A warm welcome to Primary 7 from Mr Giffney.
Our class assembly was a great success and the support shown by all the parents was very much appreciated. The children all worked very hard and I particularly enjoyed their dramatization of the Black Eyed Peas song ‘Where is the Love?’
Our topic, learning about WW1 is almost complete, we are currently investigating the weapons used at that time and the technological advancements made during the war.
In language, the children are given the choice of which reading book/novel they wish to study next and in our discussion groups explore the author’s writing as well as the story itself.
(Green & Blue groups need questions ready for Mondays / Orange & Red groups need questions ready for Tuesdays.)
In maths, we have recently studied Percentages, Angles as well as Area and Perimeter of complex 2D shapes. We continue to develop our mental maths skills every morning (only ever based on work already covered during the session) and we work on developing ‘Bob’s’ Problem Solving Strategies every Friday.
In Art, as well as studying WW1 artwork (by Paul Nash) we have examined the work of ‘The Surrealist’ movement, particularly the pictures of Salvador Dali.
Our P.E. days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays and we are currently improving our Badminton skills (with Mrs McCready) and our Volleyball skills.
P.7 homework is given out and discussed on a Monday morning. It is due back on the following Friday. Homework is always marked on Monday mornings.
