The school has been awarded a grant of £3680.27 from The Community Climate Asset Fund (see Certificate below) for
outdoor resources to help the community of Inverkip reduce local
carbon emissions through improving our school grounds, encouraging eco-friendly and sustainable life-long practices within our pupils to work with and support our local community.
This will be achieved by growing our own produce and reducing waste within the community by minimising the use of the use of non-degradable and recyclable packaging.
Here is a list of things we have bought with the funds:
- waterproof jackets and trousers
- raised beds
- spud bags
- wooden planters
- poly tunnel
- shelving units
- gardening kits
- gardening gloves
- watering cans
- compost
We have also worked alongside the Shed Project, who have supplied us with barrels and seeds for each class. Each class will be responsible for a barrel of their own. This has given us an opportunity to widen our partnerships in our local area.
Every class within the school have now completed a specific lesson on Climate Change which has generated excellent discussion in classes and evidence of work completed shows children’s understanding from this.
