Eco Global Goal – Zero Hunger

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class were very responsible looking at the global goal ‘Zero Hunger’.  We looked closely at some pictures (the hungry caterpillar, Oliver Twist, Bruce Bogtrotter) and discussed whether they looked hungry or full.

We also spoke about how we would feel if we had a full tummy and also how we would feel if we had a hungry tummy.

Finally, we spoke about food that we liked and disliked and sorted them into categories on a poster.

IDL: Food and Technologies – Scientists

Successful Learners    Confident Individuals

Investigating foods with seeds

The Moonbeams have had great fun learning through food this week. The Moonbeams were inquisitive Scientists as they explored and investigated fruit and vegetables with seeds of different sizes. They discovered that some foods had none, only a few or too many to count. The Magnifying glasses helped them see the really small seeds clearly. The children had great fun especially squishing the tomatoes and making lots of mess!

Investigating where Eggs and Milk comes from

The Moonbeams were learning how eggs and milk were made at the farm. The children were very interested in the processes and had great fun exploring eggs both raw and boiled. They especially enjoyed pretending to milk a cow!

Oliver’s Vegetable Theme – Tortilla Wrap Faces

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS *

The Daisies class loved making funny faces today. We used tortilla wraps as our base and then used a range of vegetables to make our other facial features. We chose from cherry tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, peppers and potatoes. We really enjoyed doing this, especially grating the carrots and cucumber to make curly hair.

A Week in the Beech Class

We have had a very busy week in the Beech class!  We are enjoying our current ‘Alice in Wonderland’ topic and have done lots of activities connected to our topic.  Here are some of the things we have done this week:

We made the Cheshire Cat from a paper plate and the card characters out of tissue paper.

We used different measuring equipment to measure the different real life sizes of the main characters of ‘Alice in Wonderland’.  We then ordered the different characters according to size.

We did some rhyming activities during literacy and even made our very own Cheshire Cat poem!  We were very successful learners as we learned how to identify a rhyming word and check that our poem makes sense.

We had a lovely tea party on Friday morning with Scones that Tyler, Emma and Hugh made on Thursday during our life skills cookery session.

Emma and Amber have really enjoyed recreating the magical door from ‘Alice in Wonderland’, we plan to use this during creative writing activities.

Our favourite activity this week has been music where we learned to play a rhyme on using Boomwhackers!

ICE Pack – What do I feel?

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class were very successful learners during a Health and Wellbeing lesson. We looked closely at images of different people and tried to decide how they were feeling. We were using words like happy/sad/angry/sleepy/scared.

We also took turns rolling the emotions dice and then acting out that feeling in front of a mirror.

Finally, we made different play dough faces to show different emotions.

The Daisies class enjoyed participating in one of our 50 Things Outdoor activities. They explored the grass in the sensory garden using their bare feet. They all really enjoyed doing this!
