Remembrance Day: IDL

We were exceptionally responsible citizens this week as we all took part in a 1 minute silence on the 11th of November to pay our respects to the men and women who lost their lives in the war.

Responsible Citizens during PE

The Beech class have absolutely loved being back in the gym hall for PE!  We have taken part in some interpretive dance with props and have been responsible citizens with all the different pieces of equipment.

 

Hugh received our ‘Star of the Week’ award this week for his participation in PE using his lift pants.

Poppy Pancakes!

The Daisies class enjoyed making poppy pancakes today. We made red icing and practised our spreading skills using a knife. We used chocolate buttons as the centre of our poppy. We all enjoyed tasting these!

SQA Signs in the Community

In our SQA Signs in the Community lesson this week we took part in some role playing.  We were successful learners when we discussed the safe areas we could identify on the road map to cross.  We then acted out what we do when a car was coming, we had fun playing with speedy pull back cars too.

Highlights of our Week

This week in the Oak class we have been responsible citizens, we have been working hard during out SQA personal hygiene lessons.  We have been identifying the body parts that need to be cleaned daily.

More responsible citizens, delivering the save energy posters they created after we delivered our climate change assembly.

We enjoyed learning about Remembrance Day, making beautiful poppies to stop and think about the soldiers who fought for us.  We enjoyed a walk to the Remembrance Garden to pay our respects.

Confident Individuals    Responsible Citizens

The Moonbeams have been learning about the meaning of Remembrance Day. To show we were thinking about all the people who lost their lives we made some symbolic pictures including Poppies.

Effective Contributors – Xmas Decorations

The Transition class made a start to the school decorations for Christmas. We started forming parts of the snowman’s head so we can assemble it next week and hang it with the other classes’. The class were Effective Contributors.

Responsible Individuals – Community Outing. Remembrance

It was Remembrance Day this week and the Transition class took the opportunity to visit the Memorial Garden. They were all Responsible Citizens when they explored the poetry cut into the metal, looked at the figures on the benches and looked at the information in the garden. All pupils represented  their class well by being very respectful.

Confident Individuals – SQA Healthy Eating

Some of the Transition class had their turn to cook bacon and eggs in a healthy way this week. They were all Confident Individuals  safely using a hot grill, whisking, making toast and spreading butter. They chose grilling bacon and microwaving scrambled eggs as their healthy preparation choices.

Responsible Citizens – Community Activity

Our Eco Captain kept us in order this week and made sure that our school community was in good order. A group of volunteers was assembled to sort out the corridor recycling into the correct outside bins. They were all Responsible Citizens.
