Giraffes Can’t Dance

Effective Contributors     Responsible Citizens     Successful Learners    Confident Individuals

The Snowdrops have been experiencing activities relating to our LGBT topic.  They all showed lots of interest in our story Giraffes Can’t Dance.  Just like the animals in our story, we are all different and everyone responded really well to creating their own dance moves!  The Snowdrops have noticed the different colours in the LGBT flag and created their own flags using different coloured textures.

Valentine Activities and Ice Ornaments

*Effective Contributors    *Successful Learners

We created lovely Valentine’s cards to take home and made tasty Jam Heart biscuits, They tasted really yummy! We also made Ice Ornaments for the garden. We collected buds, leaves and flowers then froze them in water, not forgetting to dip string into the water before freezing. We hung them in the garden where they sparkled in the sunshine before melting.

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

Logan and John loved today’s rebound therapy session. Logan was practising his sit to stand, tuck and star jumps. He was listening and responding to Mrs Feeney’s instructions very well.

John enjoyed his session where he was bouncing independently and when holding a member of staff’s hands.

Lovely Love Hearts! (Beech)

Kandinsky inspired artwork in the Beech class!

Our discussion during this art lesson was centred around colour and composition. Each pupil was set the task to choose bright, bold and engaging colours, and to position their coloured heart designs in an eye catching way.

Super engagement by all of these confident individuals.

Well done!

Hugh helped us by sharpening the pencils.

Valentines Fun in the Daisies Class!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Daisies class enjoyed participating in some Valentines themed activities. We found cartoon characters hidden around the room and had to sort them into loved up couples. We found 12 coloured hearts that were hidden around the room.

We completed a 1-10 number sequencing worksheet and paired the halved love heart dominoes.

Finally, we completed some Kandinsky style heart paintings.

Is it a bird!

As part of our outdoor leaning, another of learning experiences this term was to take part in a bird watching session. We all wrapped up warm and we’re ready for an afternoon of bird watching in the garden. We were effective contributors to work together with our class friends to point out as many birds as possible.

LGBT Our Family

For LGBT month we are learning about different families. We had to be confident individuals and identify our family members  to create our personal family tree. We shared this with our friends and discussed about how different families are made.

We are learning through our book ‘We are Together’,  this celebrates the power of love, friendship and acceptance. We are all unique and should chase our dreams, when we have the correct support and come together with others we make a great team.

We are learning the signs thanks to Singing Hands, ‘Together everything will be ok’ and together we can raise awareness and acceptance of who you are.

Numeracy – Shape Tracing

Successful Learners

The Sunflower’s thoroughly enjoyed learning about 2D shapes this week.  Each child used flour, food colouring and water to make their own sensory bag.  Afterwards, we revised our shapes and practiced drawing them ourselves using a cotton bud.  Excellent work Sunflower’s!
