The Stars class were pleased to be back at school after the February break. We enjoyed Valentine’s Day activities and looked for Fairtrade produce at Morrisons. We also recycled batteries too!

Yesterday we made some lovely Valentine’s treats to take home to our parents. We melted white chocolate and then added sweets and then put it in the fridge to harden. Later in the afternoon we broke it into lots and lots of pieces.
We also made cards. On the card was a piece of pizza – saying you stole a pizza my heart! We chose a friend in the school to send it to and then posted them in the post box in the atrium.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

The Moonbeams have been exploring the colours of the LGBT Flag through sensory play. The pupils transferred their cookery skills through play. They were scooping, pouring, grasping and spreading using a variety of equipment in sand, water, foam and water beads. Some children were able to identify colours and objects found.

The Bluebells class went on a walk to our local Scotmid shop. We had a challenge to find items that had the fairtrade logo on their packaging.
Next week, we are leading a Fairtrade Fortnight assembly so we have been looking closely at the logo.
We managed to find fairtrade chocolate bars, tea bags and sugar in Scotmid.

We have been exploring the story of St. Valentine this week and made confident choices when using a selection of art materials to create our own Valentine’s cards.
We were responsible citizens and used the Willowbank post box to deliver our cards to our friends.

Love is in the air this Valentines days! We decided to win over our valentines with some beautiful poems. We wrote them all together then stuck them onto a beautiful love heart border. The poem we chose was..
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
Sugar is Sweet
And so are you!
Afterwards cupid arrived to deliver our Valentines day cards. We were all lucky to get one!

All Sungazers did some deep proprioceptive bouncing on the hands and knees which they really enjoy a lot. followed by left right recognition and relaxation

We listened to our LGBT book, it is about understanding that everyone has their own talents and interests. Everyone is different and we should celebrate difference.
Our book is about Raffi who likes to knit and people are not kind because of this. Raffi starts to worry about not liking the same activities as everyone else in the class.
Raffi loves to knit and is very talented at creating things, we all tried to finger knit today. Well it certainly is a talent as we all got tied up in knots, Mrs Livingstone came to the rescue and helped everyone make a knitted bracelet.
We were effective contributors and everyone focussed their attention to actively participate in the knitting the activity

The Snowdrops enjoyed a sensory assembly all about the Chinese new year. Everyone experienced Chinese foods through food sensory tasting and handling activities. There were also craft activities, making a Chinese fan and lucky money envelope. The Snowdrops took turns to move around all the activities with all their peers.
