Sports Week & Challenges

So Oak class welcome to another week, things are starting to change with lockdown but for now we are still working from home.

We have made you a video to recap all the rules of lockdown in the next phase. Click here to watch.

Literacy –

Let’s make someone in your family smile, can you make them a rainbow card and then post it to them. Get an adult to help you with your spelling for the words on your card. Click here to watch a video on how to make the card.

If you do not have coloured paper, use white paper and colour in your hearts. You will need to get an adult to help cut out the love hearts.  When they are cutting this out, you too can be working on your cutting skills.

Numeracy –

Family Time BINGO

Ask an adult to make a bingo card for everyone using o’clock and half past the hour.  If you have a printer you can access time bingo cards from the twinkl website.

Cooking –

Can you make your own lunch, how about making a cheese and ham toastie. Miss Miller has a video you can watch to find out how to make one.  Click here to watch the video.

Art –

On your daily walk or in your garden can you collect sticks, flowers, grass anything that would make a lovely picture. You will also need some salt or sugar to shake over your hand to reveal your hand outline.  Here are some examples below;

Music –

This week can you get your family to sing one of our favourite songs, Love my Life.  Click here to watch the video.

PE –

Sports day would have been this week, so keep checking in with the blog and school app as there will be a secondary sports day video.  All the staff have taken part in some fun races, you could try them out with your family.  We would love to see any photos of your family lockdown sports day.

Cosmic yoga – as a class we enjoy taking part in these sessions after lunch.  Click here to try out a session about a butterfly.

Class Pet –

All the butterflies have been released apart from one.  We had four healthy butterflies and one had a broken wing.  So it is unable to fly so Mrs Murray is going to continue to look after it at home. It has enjoyed more fresh flowers, apples, and pineapple this weekend.

Family Fun!

This week’s challenge involves lots of fun and interaction with our families 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Our focus is on social skills so I thought it would be fun to play lots of games.

In class, our favourites are Duck Duck Goose or What’s the time Mr Wolf? However there are lots of games you can play including Tig and Hide and Seek.

These can take place in your house or in the garden and involve no resources.

Alternatively you can have some competitive challenges like lego tower building (set a timer and see who can build the tallest tower in that time), a game of limbo or piggy in the middle.

I’d love to see some photographs of you enjoying some family fun and games so feel free to send them for our blog 📸

Have fun! 😃

Sungazers – 1/6/20

It’s June! Hope everyone has been enjoying this wonderful sunshine and is keeping safe!

This weeks task is a cookery one. At the weekend, Mrs Skinner and Mrs  Coulter were busy making ladybird biscuits with their families and thought you would like to join in too – it was great fun!

We have used – digestive biscuits, red icing, icing pens to decorate and any other icing decorations we could find in our cupboards.  Why don’t you have a go too – they were really tasty!

We also have a lovely story about a ladybird. It is called ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ and you can find it on Youtube.

Have a great week!

Actions with parents

Hi I hope you’re all well! I’m missing the children loads.
Staying active is important.
some nice weather ideas:

With sand build sandcastles; dig a hole on the beach; build a crocodile on the beach; build a mountain on the beach; build anything you can think of dig tunnels and………..

Destroy your artwork on the beach can be great fun or watch the water take it away with the tide if you plan right. Water: blow bubbles; spray mist water plants make little holes in the lid of a milk bottle so the water comes out slowly. Keep a big bucket handy and teach the children to dunk their bottle themselves to fill back up saves you a bit of running up and down to the tap. Alternatively keep a stack of bottles handy, when they are done game us over.

Have a wet sponge/ balled socks fight; do a target practice ; play catch

Ball: play passes rolling sitting or lying down; pass sitting down; standing up kick; throw; bounce pass; overhead pass; chest pass

Dribble a course; practice on a target

Sheet and balloon. If you put a little water in the balloon it won’t blow away so quickly and behaves funny. Basically use the sheet/towel or cloth to wip up the balloon as you would with a parachute it’s teamwork; wip up and catch; pass to another team ; make rallies or kewpie uppie etc.

Have fun and stay active, healthy and happy!
