Today we celebrated “Lots of socks day” for World Downs Syndrome Day which was on Sunday. We took a picture of all our feet in odd socks. We decorated socks with different materials. We made them both different to make them odd socks. We also added felt ears, a felt tongue, eyes and a pom pom nose to a sock to make a puppy sock puppet. We then wore them on our hands made them go WOOF!!!!!! Some of us were also wearing purple for Epilepsy Awareness Day too.
Successful Learners, Effective Contributors & Confident Individuals
After learning that the Olympic Games originated in Greece (the same place Hercules is from), we had our own mini Olympics in the Beech Class. We took part in a variety of sports, including the Bean Bag Toss, a Mini Marathon, Hula Hooping, and a Rubber Duck race. We then had a closing ceremony to celebrate our efforts and achievements. Confident individuals indeed!
We also looked at Greek architecture & the different styles of buildings. The pupils were then given a challenge to build their own building using only dry spaghetti & marshmallows. This required a lot of communication & teamwork!
Effective Contributors & Responsible Citizens
The Beech class planted their own flowers & peas that we are going to help grow in the classroom. Each pupil has the responsibility of looking after their own flower and watching it blossom. We have added ‘water flowers’ to our daily routine checklist before going home each day.
Successful learners
This week we have been learning all about the letter “u”. We made lovely unicorns and all made an umbrella. We also explored underwater and underground. We glued the umbrella to the page and the blew the paint down to be the rain using our own straws. We glued a “u” onto brown paper and then used our pencil to draw ants and worms around the “u” in the soil. We also played a game throwing the cardboard “u”s and trying to get them in the pole. We had lots of fun.
* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *
The Planets class have enjoyed today’s “Lots of Socks” celebrations. We have enjoyed finding pairs of socks around the class, pairing the socks and trying to beat the timer and hanging them on the washing line.
We also completed a cut and stick pairing sock worksheet and created our own sock creations.
Successful Learners
The Moonbeams have been identifying and matching shapes this week. The children demonstrated their understanding of shape b using a variety of shapes to create a tower for Rapunzel. Take a look at their amazing creations!
This week was National Reflection Day, we looked back over the past year and spoke about what we are thankful for. It was confident individuals all round thinking and sharing what and who they are thankful for.
In music we were effective contributors playing along to a song called ‘Bringing us Together’.
This week we have enjoyed taking part in lots of Easter art activities. We were concentrating on staying within the lines and taking our time on each section of our piece of art.
We have been getting back into our hard work jobs, we took part in our time work and we were successful learners.
Due to current restrictions we find ourselves sitting at our desks more that we would normally. The class were Responsible Citizens when Mr Cameron led them in a stretch and move session. They followed instructions very well to take responsibility for their own health. We all felt a lot better after the session!
