Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The Stars class visited CC’s Chocolate Creations in Kilmarnock to watch the owner, Carol, make fantastic chocolate bars and shapes. Carol invited us to dip marshmallows in melted chocolate. They smelled and tasted delicious. As Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is our theme this term we bought not a golden ticket but a golden bar of chocolate for class. Yum! The rest of the class will visit CC’s Chocolate Creations on our next allocated bus day.

Macmillan Day

The Stars class made mars bar cake which we sold in school for Macmillan Day. There was only one piece left………….and that didn’t last long back in class! We are proud to say we made £9.90 to donate to the appeal. We participated in Friday afternoon activities. We iced biscuits, created a colourful cupcake picture, made a fizzing green volcano and enjoyed sensory handling. A great afternoon was had by all.

Back at Willowbank

The Stars Class have been getting to know our new class these past two weeks. We have been playing ‘getting to know you’ games and have been enjoying time outside in the sunshine. We worked hard clearing the weeds that had grown over the summer in our planter. They were huge! After the weeds were removed we were able to find the potatoes, onions and peas that we had grown. We discussed our feelings and emotions then made playdoh faces. See if you can recognise our emotions – happy, sad, upset, angry, surprised, excited and sleepy.

FAOL- Mexican Cafe

We were successful learners last week when we invited our peers in the Sunflowers class to visit a  café to share what we have been learning all about Mexico.

We enjoyed trying lots of Mexican foods, dressing as traditional Mariachi musicians, and listening to Mexican music.

We had lots of fun and were confident individuals trying lots of foods that we hadn’t tried before.
