IDL – Pizza Day

So, we attempted to make our own pizza dough! Unfortunately we were unsuccessful learners, it didn’t actually turn into pizza dough. Although we were all effective contributors to take our turn at kneading the dough.  It turned into a gloopy mess.

So we had to use shop bought version and everyone enjoyed eating it at the end of our FOW Fun day.

Getting ready for our Trip

This week we have taken part in a lot of our IDL topic work.  We were confident individuals learning about the process of going to the airport.  Then we went to our Oak Travel Agents to book our holiday to Australia.  The boys were able to be effective communicators to share information about their dream holiday.

They worked on their literacy skills, reading, writing and signing / speaking to tell their friends how many people were going on their holiday, the type of accommodation they would like to sleep and their mode of transport to get to Australia.

This week we were effective contributors to help make our Lamington Australian cake,  the boys listened to instructions well when baking this cake.

National Numeracy Day

Today is National Numeracy Day so instead of doing literacy steaming this afternoon we did numeracy tasks with our groups. We were successful learners and effective contributors throughout the afternoon. We signed the numbers to ten. We all tried really hard despite the hand shapes being rather tricky. We then completed numeracy rotations we had to find numbers on the tuft tray and used a paintbrush to make them disappear. We had to count the number of flowers and then had to build a tower with the same number of blocks.

library visit and theme cooking

On Monday we visited the library again and the lovely ladies read us a sensory story. We chose our books to bring back to school and they even gave us books that we could take home and keep.

On Thursday we made French toast in the cookery room. We whisked the eggs and milk together and the ladies dipped the bread in and put it in the frying pan. We even rolled the bread flat and added in some cheese. The boys were all effective contributors during this time and patiently waited their turn. While we were waiting for the French toast to cook we looked at some pictures of different foods and decided which ones we should eat less of to be healthy.

Looking after our Earth

As part of Earth day we have taken part in activities all week that have been linked to looking after our Earth.

We used no electricity when taking part in our cooking lesson, we walked into town rather than using transport and we tidied up our garden patch.

We all were effective contributors when making our no bake truffles, we all had an important role to play in the process.

We worked hard on learning how to tell the time working on our ILP targets.

We walked into town with the Transition class, we went to the shops to buy colourful items for our garden patch to help brighten it up.  We are yet to be successful in growing any plants, so we are brighten up it up in other ways.

Easter Fun

Despite it being a short week, we still managed to get a lot of work done in the Oak class.  A lot of work this week has had a literacy focus,  fine motor skills,  listening, observing, and comprehension of instructions.

It has been a busy but fun week with all the boys being successful learners and confident individuals in all the tasks we completed.

Sean had a great session on the trampoline during his rebound session, he was very relaxed and cooperative.  He signed for ‘more’ several times when he and had great eye contact during his cool down session.

We decorated our eggs with some aboriginal art to go along with our Australian topic work.

We also made some Easter cookies, we were all effective contributors when we made and decorated them.  Some cookies never made it home, they went straight into tummies as soon as they were iced.

We made some Easter glasses and Nathan really enjoyed wearing his, he kept them on all day.

Easter Bingo and Blake was the winner ‘Full House’.  The boys were working on their listening and comprehension skills whilst  playing the game.

It was been a lovely week with lost of sunshine, the boys have enjoyed some time outside with their friends playing with the ball.

We made some colourful eggs, whilst working on our fine motor skills.  We did some weaving and tape to create two different style of eggs.

We met some lovely lambs two were only 1 day old and enjoyed a cuddle from some of our boys.  They were all very gentle and quiet when petting and cuddling the lambs. Lots of smiles all round.
