Confident individuals at Sport Relief

Today we came to school dressed in red or in our pyjamas for Sport relief and brought in a kind donation. All the infant classes gathered in the atrium – we had music and did lots of activities. We made a tower with red lego, pin the nose on the celebrity, red egg and spoon race and an obstacle course. It was great fun and all the Sunflowers participated in all the activities and were super confident individuals at moving around when Miss Hill shouted it was time to change. 🙂

Science Week

This week, we have been confident individuals by exploring lots of different areas of science.

On Tuesday, we welcomed visitors to our school and took part in lots of activities. we particularly enjoyed exploring stars and planets in the planetarium, and creating out own stomp rockets before competing to see who’s would travel the furthest.

We have also been taking part in experiments within the class and created our own hypothesis by discussing what we thought might happen after each experiment. We were responsible citizens by taking turns with peers.

Science – Exploring Sound

We enjoyed exploring sound using boomwhackers (plastic tubes that are different lengths) and a cajon drum (wooden box with a hole in the back).

Everyone focused their attention and were confident individuals when listening to soundtracks and playing their instruments.  We all were actively engaged in making a sound and creating a beat in time with the music playing in the background.

Confident Individuals in the Cookery Room

Apologies there is an issue affecting the upload of pictures. The Transition boys participated actively in making naan bread from three ingredients. They used their numeracy skills to each weigh out 50g of flour and 50g of yoghurt.  They combined this with 1/4 of a teaspoon of baking powder and a pinch of salt. The boys were very safe and sensible as they cooked them in a very hot frying pan. Each naan was very soft and tasty when eaten with some Indian style dips!

FAOL – ECO – Responsible Consumption and Production

The Stars class made a recycling poster and discussed how we can recycle at home. We decorated a canvas bag so that we can use it every time we go on outings to save using throw away plastic bags. On a supermarket outing we recycled used batteries from the school.

Swimming

We have had two blocks at the Galleon for swimming lessons.  Everyone worked very hard and were successful learners as well as being confident individuals.

Ethan, Blake and Jack have been swimming lengths of the pool from the shallow end down to the deep end!

Fantastic determination and concentration when taking part in their lessons.

Blake started to learn how to dive in at the deep end and Ethan has made great progress with his front crawl technique.

Jack has made amazing progress! He finished his final swimming lesson by swimming six lengths of the pool with only the support of a pool noodle!  He was so confident!

Well done everyone!
