The Bluebells have been working hard this week to make Mother’s Day special. The pupils demonstrated that they were successful learners by making and writing their Mother’s Day cards. They were effective contributors while making special cakes and had great fun decorating their flowers and baskets. We hope the Mum’s all like their gifts!

FAOL: Outdoor Learning – Big Pedal
The Bluebells have participated in a variety of activities this week for the Big Pedal. They demonstrated that they were responsible citizens as they walked to the local Library and looked both ways before they crossed the road. The children were successful learners as they walked around Tesco looking for ingredients. They have been getting lots of exercise during outdoor play on the bikes and scooters and today they took part in an obstacle course which was lots of fun! The Bluebells have walked thousands of steps this week! Well done!
Science Week
This week the Bluebell pupils have been effective contributors and successful learners during their science lessons. They have enjoyed participating in a variety of activities and observing the results of some. They made Tornados in a bottle, Lava lamps, foam art and even carried out a science experiment during cookery where they made ice cream in a bag. It has been a very successful week!
FAOL: Enterprise – Red Nose Day
The pupils in the Bluebells were effective contributors today as they all took part in a variety of activities for Red Nose Day. The children wore something red and donated money. They also took part in a variety of group and sensory activities. The pupils contributed by making Information posters about Red Nose Day which they took home to share with their families.
Red Nose Day
Today was Red Nose Day. Some of the boys came in wearing red. We watched the YouTube video “put a nose on it” by Singing Hands. We went to the atrium with all the other infant classes and had a dance. We played Red Nose Day corners with the different Disney characters on the t-shirts and also had an nose and spoon race. The boys also tried on Red Nose Day glasses and a nose.
FAOL World Book Day
The Bluebells celebrated World Book Day last week by choosing and listening to their favourite stories. The Children choose their favourite characters and dressed up. On Friday the children listened to the story of the Tartan Witch read to them by the author. They demonstrated that they were responsible citizens as they sat and listened with other classes and then they enjoyed taking part in a variety of activities including making a Witch’s Potion.
WBD – Author visit
We had a special visitor come into school today. Greta Yorke and her friend Moira came to Willowbank today to read Greta’s book “The Tartan Witch”. The whole school got to listen to Greta and Moira tell the story about the tartan witch. Greta had also organised some lovely activities related to the book for the children to do after listening to the story. The activities were : exploration of the characters from the book, creating our own tartan using special wooden blocks with different lines on them, a matching game and a potion station. Everyone really enjoyed listening to the story and were effective contributors when engaging with the activities.
Fairtrade
The Bluebells have been successful learners this week as they have taken part in many activities about Fairtrade. They watched videos to learn about where bananas and chocolate comes from and learned a bit about the process they go through to get to our shops and they learned about how hard the farmers in other countries work. The children enjoyed playing a shopping game where they had to choose Fairtrade products by looking out for the Fairtrade logo, they listened to an Assembly about Fairtrade and today they were effective contributors during a Monkey hunt. They also enjoyed some games in the gym hall with other classes.
We also entered a bake off and came in second place! What a successful week!
Fairtrade Fortnight
We have been learning about Fairtrade this week. We had a Fairtrade assembly by the Snowdrops. We were confident individuals in making our own special Fairtrade delight for the Fairtrade Bake Off yesterday. We made cake pops with ‘rice krispies’ and made them look like sunflowers. The boys were fabulous at this. They waited their turn and listened to instructions. We even made extra so the we all could take one home.

Today was our whole school Fairtrade day. We went to the hall and played fairtrade corners and pass the banana. We were also very lucky and had a fairtrade hunt. We had a huge surprise at the end when we met a monkey in our school sensory room. He danced with us. We had great fun.
Purple Friday Fun!
The Bluebells had great fun this week learning about LGBT through their story, Something Else. They learned that everyone is different and that’s ok. The children made posters to show lots of different people being friends. The children demonstrated that they were confident individuals by singing and signing our class song, Different Families. The children had great fun on Friday afternoon taking part in a variety of Purple Sensory activities.
