MOVE Day 2022

We had a ball on Friday celebrating and raising awareness for the MOVE programme by getting our bodies moving by taking part in a wide range of activities.

We took part in lots of movement-based activities in class as well as joined up with the secondary department for a dance in the playground and then took part in planned activities that had also been set up outside.

Responsible Citizens – MOVE day

What a busy day the Transition class had for MOVE day! We took part in lots of MOVE challenges in class in the morning. The class followed actions songs, played dice game where each number matched to an animal and made a MOVE poster. Just before lunch we took part in the secondary playground activities and in the afternoon we worked through different space themed MOVE activities. It was a great day where every pupil gave a lot of effort. The class were all Responsible Citizens.

Confident Individuals – Evaluation Work

It’s nearly the end of term and the Transition class were Confident Individuals when they completed their evaluations. Some pupils used the interactive board and some recorded their answers on paper. Each pupil was very secure with their answers and focussed really well on the task.

Responsible Citizens – Hot Chocolate Service

The Transition class were Responsible Citizens during their cooking time this week. They made up an order form and took orders for hot chocolate from the secondary classes. They carefully boiled the kettle, made up the hot chocolate and added marshmallows where requested. Well done everyone!

Responsible Citizens – Whole school shelter

The Transition class were Responsible Citizens when they took responsibility to erect an outdoor shelter for the whole school to use. They listened well to instructions and worked together to hold it steady as the guy lines were tightened. We hope to get a lot of use for outdoor education towards the end of term.

Effective Contributors – Gardening

The Transition class have been taking advantage of the better weather and doing some gardening. They have been Effective Contributors when planting vegetable and weeding the class raised bed. The class have planted turnips, rhubarb, peas and potatoes.

The class have also been collecting sunflower seedlings from every other class and planting them into a flower meadow. Fingers crossed for a good display of sunflowers. There may or may not have been some carry on with some sticky-willie!

Confident Individuals – Drake Music

It was a happy/sad morning on Tuesday. Happy because it was our Drake Music session and sad because it was our last one. The class were Confident Individuals replaying their greatest hits and having a turn of the guitar. The class made a lovely card for the Drake Music tutor.

Effective Contributors – P.E.

The Transition class were Effective Contributors when they started their week in the usual way by taking part in P.E. The class took part in warm up activities before breaking into small groups to practice tennis skills. There were a few Andy Murrays in the making on show!

MOVE Day Activities in the Stars

We had a lovely day of activities in the Stars class. We had a timed colour hunt, played balloon tennis, threw balls into a basket (trickier than you think!) and did ‘Space Yoga’. Outside we played hopscotch and did chalk drawings. In the afternoon we moved round ‘space’ stations in the playground which were great fun.

MOVE Day in the Snowdrops

Today in the Snowdrops we have been very active in the classroom and outside in the playground. We have enjoyed dancing to our morning group songs, playing games outside and we created a class poster about the importance of MOVE within our school.
