Rubbings! ✏️

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. 😀

The art challenge this week is to try and create some interesting images using a rubbing technique.

Wax crayons or coloured pencil will work best when used with white paper. This activity can be completed indoors or out.

Have fun and stay safe.

What melts in the sun?

Hi Snowdrops,

We have had a lot of lovely sunshine and this can be a great time for some fun science activities.  All the Snowdrops ladies are going to help you with this idea.  Let’s explore what melts in the sun!

We have found some foods for you to test but you can choose lots of different things.

Take small pieces of food and place them on a tray, leave your foods out in the sunshine and keep checking to see what happens.

Enjoy some science in the sun but only if you get time.  Take care Snowdrops, we miss you.

Stars Activities 8

Hi everyone. We hope all is good for you and that you are enjoying the mild weather. 🌞

Helping at home

Our families do lots around the house to look after us. Maybe you could help them do some chores. Why don’t you help………

Set the dinner table

Clear the dinner table

Wipe the dinner table

Wash and dry the dishes

Vacuum any crumbs up

Brush the floor

Dust

Mrs Logan, Mrs Westerman and Mrs Gardner have been very busy doing these chores around our own homes.

Balloon Rocket

Mrs Chisholm and her family had a great time making balloon rockets. Her children enjoyed this activity so much that they showed their teacher’s at their own school what they had done.

Why don’t you try making a balloon rocket too. All you need is some string, scissors, a straw, balloon and sellotape.

Picture Dominoes

We have good fun matching the pictures in this game. If you don’t have a picture dominoes game at home why don’t you print out these farm animal picture dominoes.

Story

This is one of our favourite stories but read today by James McAvoy.

If you choose to do any of these activities then why don’t you send us a comment or some photographs. We’d love to hear from you.

Have Fun! Stay Safe!   ❤☺

Hello everyone hope your all doing well . I can’t believe it’s been so long since we seen you all . You are all doing so well and I’m sure your enjoying all the time your having with your family ( but secretly looking forward to getting back to school ) 🤭

This weeks tasks are listed below
Activity 1

In the snowdrops we love a song for any occasion, so I thought it’s time to practice our number songs

Singing  hands -Three little monkeys https://youtu.be/mZBZ8J1R_yU

Five little ducks

https://youtu.be/pZw9veQ76fo

Ten in the bed

https://youtu.be/NZkPYzIKZNc

Activity 2

This activity is all about colours . I want you to have a look 👀 about and find lots of items of different colours maybe choice red , yellow , blue and green and then sort them so the same colours are all together . A good colour sort activity is lego bricks or pegs for hanging out the washing . Have a go see what you can find 👍🏻

Activity 3

We have enjoyed this activity in class before and thought you might like to do it at home . It’s sensory bags . Easy to make and no mess but lots of fun 😃.
All you need is

ziplock bag

tape

water

oil

food colouring

into the bag add about 1/4 bag of oil ( baby or vegetable oil is fine)

next add some food colouring

then  1/4 bag again of water

now zip it closed fold over and  tape That edge so no leaks .

You can also add glitter if you like some sparkle .
Raid the craft box and make some of your own , water or hair gel works well with Pom poms , sequins or pick something and try it out .
A really simple one is to add shaving foam to the bag , you can use this to practice your letters or numbers or just make some patterns.

Have a good week Snowdrops 👍🏻 and remember your photos if you can . We would love to see how your Peter rabbit plants are coming on .

Monday 8th June

Hello everybody!

Another week already! I hope you are all still keeping well. The weather for this week looks quite mixed. The home learning this week is a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities so you can dodge any potential rain showers! I have chosen two activities from Wilderness Outdoor Education. They have lots of good activities. You all know I like my food so there is another fire-pit recipe and some work around the human body. I would love to see pictures of your creations.

Here is this week’s learning. Home learning 8th June

Stay healthy and be kind to each other.

Weekly Home Learning

Good Morning!

Below are some activities you can take part in throughout the week. Complete the activities at your own pace, choosing which you would like to take part in.

  1. Collect some objects and items from around your house. Can you sort them into item which are big and items which are small?
  2. Choose a board game to play with a family member. Try to take turns and have lots of fun.

  1. Collect some stones or pebbles when you’re out on a walk. Bring them home and paint them with lots of colours, a nice message, or a picture. When you go on another walk, hide the pebbles for other people to find.

Have lots of fun!

home learning and 30 Days Wild week 2

Hi everyone,

I hope are well and enjoy the activities we have planned for you this week.

First here is the activities you can do for week 2 of the 30DaysWild challenge. How many of the days did you complete last week? We would love to see some of your photos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sOWSJMHcLc

Keeping with the wild theme we thought we would build a den to read a book in. Have a look at our creations. Let us know what you get up to. Did you build a den indoors or outdoors?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUZOd1lboyw

I have created a little scavenger hunt that can easily be completed in the garden or you could take on your daily walk and see how many of the items you found. Happy hunting.

scavenger hunt

If you want to work on your fine motor skills here is a little video all about lacing that you can do at home. Get your fingers moving.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSBIA1T9Zn8

Enjoy family time. You can create a calming sensory bottle. Some of the ladies made one and they were very calming to sit and  watch. Here is a how to video so you can make your own.

Weekly Home Learning (8)

Hi everyone!

This week we are focusing on all things sensory.  We will explore all our senses through a variety of activities and experiences.  As always, these activities are only suggestions and you are under no obligation to do all or any of them. Have fun and stay safe.

Sight

‘Eye spy’ is a great game that can be played anywhere and with limited resouces, it also helps us to explore letter sounds and words.  I challenge you to make a sensory ‘eye spy’ bottle with an adult. The bottle can be made using anything small enough to fit inside along with either water (with food colouring and glitter!), sand or rice so that we have to move the bottle around to find all our hidden items.  Here is an example of a sensory bottle for your reference.

Hearing

Listen to this sensory story and have a chat about all the different sounds you hear!  Could you read a story with an adult and create some sound effects to go along with it?

Your hearing challenge is to go on a ‘senses hunt’ either in your garden or while you’re out a walk.  Takes some time to just stand safely in an outdoor space and listen hard for any sounds you can hear.  How many sounds did you hear?  Did you know what all of them were?  Have a think as well about what you can see and smell and touch along the way!

Taste

This is a very funny video of celebrities taking a taste test which should introduce your taste challenge well!  Your challenge is to wear a blindfold and try five different foods.  How many foods did you try and how many did you guess correctly?

Want to make the challenge more interesting?  Take away another sense.  Simply put headphones on as well as a blindfold and try the challenge again.  Was it trickier?

Smell

Your smell challenge has an arty flare!  You are going to create bubble art with different smells and colours.  For this challenge you will need; Bubble mixture/fairy liquid, a bubble blower wand, food colouring/coloured paints, cups/tubs to dip your wand into and white sheets of paper.  This activity should be completed outdoors

Simply mix a colour and a drop of something smelly (shampoo, vanilla extract, sauces, shower gel) into a cup/tub filled with bubble mixture and then blow your bubbles in the direction of the paper!   Watch the colours mix and smell the different scents mix together! (If you don’t have a bubble wand, sellotape plastic straws together!)

Touch

Sensory writing.  For this activity, simply fill a tray with any dispersible product such as rice, lentils, foam, sand or salt and practise finger writing.  Try a range of products one after the other and see which texture you prefer.  If you want to get creative here are some recipes for creating special sensory writing trays:

The lesser known internal senses…

Vestibular

“…The sensory system that provides the leading contribution to the sense of balance and spatial orientation for the purpose of coordinating movement with balance.”

Yoga is a fantastic and calming way to develop balance and muscle control and coordination.  Cosmic Yoga is favourite with our young people – check them out on Youtube.

I have included a link that will take you to a Harry Potter themed session for the Beech Harry Potter fans!

Proprioception

“Proprioception is the unconscious awareness of body position. It tells us about the position of our body parts, their relation to each other, and their relation to other people and objects”

Chores that will provide proprioceptive input:

  • Lifting the laundry basket
  • Hovering
  • Gardening
  • Taking the bin out
  • Tidying toys (!)
  • Lifting shopping bags
  • Unload the washing machine and the dryer

Try to help with at least one physical chore a day 😊

Keep an eye out for our end-of-the-week staff quiz!

Hope you are all staying safe and looking after each other, missing you all lots.

Ready Steady Cook!

This week, the Bluebells staff thought you could take part in some cooking challenges as a family. You can make all of these below or just choose 1. Even if you don’t want to eat it, you could help make it for someone in your household 🙂

We have all chosen a snack/dinner and taken a picture of it this week to show you some ideas. For the simple recipes, scroll down. Enjoy! 🍽

*Tortilla Pizza 🍕

Ingredients:
Tortilla wrap
Passata
Cheddar cheese

Method:
Grate cheese using a grater.
Pour passata on the middle of your tortilla wrap.
Spread the passata with the back of a spoon (all the way to the edges).
Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
Add any additional toppings of your own choice.
Put in a preheated oven at 180° for 8 mins.
Cut into slices and enjoy 🙂

*Chicken Fajitas 🌮

Ingredients:
Diced chicken breasts
Onion
Mixed peppers
Fajita seasoning
Tortilla wraps
Garlic salt (optional)

An adult will need to help you

Method:
Add some oil/vegetable oil spray to a wok.                                                                        Turn on the cooker to a high heat and add the chicken to the pan.
Fry the chicken, add the fajita seasoning and garlic salt.
Add some mixed peppers and a finely chopped onion and allow to soften.
Add some more fajita seasoning for flavour and reduce the heat.
Heat up the tortillas in the oven.
Spoon the fajita mix onto a wrap. Add some sauce if you would like.
Follow steps 1, 2 and 3 to wrap your tortilla.

Enjoy! 😊

* Toast and cheese 🧀

Get some bread and cheese and with adult help cut the cheese in to slices to put on top of your bread.

With adult help put the grill on and wait a few minutes for it to get warm.

When it’s warm enough put the bread with the cheese on it and you can look from a safe distance and watch for the cheese to bubble that’s when it’s ready 🙂

Safely take it from the grill and wait a few minutes for it to cool down. Then enjoy 😊
