The Transition boys had a nautical look about them this week when they were practicing for their end of term group performance. They were all Effective Contributors and kept rhythm very well as well as signing along to our own lyrics.

Confident Individuals and Effective Contributors
This week, the Sunflower’s class have actively participated in a variety of group activities. Each child has engaged in a Interactive Board game with a peer and was able to make choices by selecting their favourite songs and games. The Sunflower’s also loved participating in a penguin race and watching the penguins move up the steps. Each child was able to press the arrows on our bee bots to follow the road map to their destination too!
Successful Learners Confident Individuals
The Moonbeams have been using the Smartboard to practice writing and tracing their names and feelings. As part of our theme they were drawing Rapunzel’s Castle too and enjoyed playing some games together. The children enjoyed literacy games on the ipad and this afternoon they relaxed to some music and lights with the Sensory Tower.
Confident Individuals/ Successful Learners
To mark Digital Technologies week, the Snowdrops would like to show how we enjoy using different technology to help us learn and develop new skills.
We can use the ipads and the promethean board to help us with numbers and literacy.
We use switches to help us make confident choices.
Eye Gaze technology helps us access learning, independence and develop our communication skills.
Learning with Sensory Cards, here we identified the object, touched the sensory part, made the Makaton sign and the noise …successful learning indeed!!
MOVE in my Pacer – changing the Board to what I want to watch!!
Identifying Shapes.
Literacy – using the Color Monster characters to help describe the characters in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Lets have a wee chat girls!!!
Sensory Play – digging for jewels just like the dwarfs (although they did it in dirt!!)
Outside in the sunshine – a rare sight!!!
Let me help you with your jacket…
Numeracy, we used the story ‘Spinderella‘ this week, lots of counting and clapping!! We also had spiders frozen in ice – not real spiders!!!! We worked on our tolerance of having the cold ice touch our skin, counted the spiders, and identified the different colours.
Which colour is your favourite?
This is the Hairy Godmother.
MOVE – In our Standing Frames watching some counting songs.
Now a note from your ECO-CAPTAIN – reduce, reuse and recycle – well I think these responsible citizens have done all that and more!! Using feed bottles to ‘Feed the Birds’. We all worked as a team on a sustainable goal SDG 17 – hope the birds like them.
The birds need water too….
IDL Art for our class display.
Turning Art into Sensory Play Fun.
Ready for home – have you had a good week?
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
As part of our Heroes and Villains topic, we have explored the idea of female superheroes being a little less popular than male superheroes. So today we read a story called ‘Charlie the Firefighter’ that told the story of a female firefighter – a real life hero who helps to rescue people in need. We were confident individuals as we learned about lots of different jobs that people do to help others in their community. We even thought about what our dream superhero job would be and tried on the uniform!
Over the past two weeks we have enjoyed going out a walk in small groups. We have had great conversation, interaction with our friends and played ‘I Spy’ to take in what we could see around us.
Confident individuals when working on communication, everyone initiated conversation with their friends and adults.
Whilst we were out our walk the route was to cross as many roads as possible to give us the opportunity to work on road safety and awareness.
For Mother’s day we made cards. We were confident individuals and were able to choose from a choice of three images on the SMARTboard. We then counted the votes to see which card had the most votes. We were able to choose the materials we needed and stick the pieces together to create the card to be sent home.
LAVA LAMPS
All the pupils were able to help fill a bottle a quarter of the way with water. Most pupils were able to carefully add vegetable oil to the bottle and some pupils were able to use a dropper to add some food colouring to the mix. It was lots of fun seeing the reaction it made and watching the movements within the bottle.
This week we were using different digital technologies. The children are confident individuals at using the SMARTboard at morning group. They are able to use the pen to overwrite their name and some can even use the tools at the side to change the colour independently. We used the Beebots this week and the children loved exploring them. They were able to push the arrow buttons in a sequence to make the Beebot move a specific way. Some were even able to remember to press the cross before starting a new sequence. They loved that the Beebots had a light so we explored them in the dark too.
We used the SMARTboard to play lots of different games to. Everyone really enjoyed the shape game. We had to feed the correct shape to the correct shape monster. They were successful learners and able to use their finger to drag the shape to the mouth of the shape monster. We also played literacy games finding the beginning letter of CVC words.
We also had lots of fun with a noise activated spider. We had to make a noise to get the spider to move the louder the noise the faster it moved around the floor. We were confident individuals working on using our voice to make loud noises.
