P7 at Kilmarnock District History Group

A huge well done and thank you to the 17 Primary 7 children who gave a further performance of their WWII play in Ayrshire College at the Kilmarnock District History Group last night!

They quickly learned lines of classmates who could not manage along and arrived ready to deliver the extras.

Mrs Lawson, Mrs Mackie and the children all received such a warm welcome and it was lovely to then listen to the stories from the audience, sharing their memories with the P7s.

An enjoyable and rewarding visit!

STEM Mr George Burns

Primary 6 and 7 had a visit from Mr George Burns, an electrical engineer, who spoke to use about Aviation linked to electricity.  We found out about; the history of aviation, electricity on planes and then we had the opportunity to make planes using Lollipop sticks.

Sam McCallum’s plane ‘flew’ the furthest.

Thank you Mr Burns

Primary 6 and 7 Maths Roadshow

This morning we attended a maths roadshow as part of STEM fortnight.  There were lots of fantastic interactive challenges.  Some of them really made us think and others really challenged our patience and perseverance.

P7 – Kilmarnock District History Group

Thank you to the P7 children who  have volunteered to redo scenes from our play at the Kilmarnock District History Group meeting on Tuesday 28th November.

I would appreciate it if the children could arrive at 7pm at Ayrshire College on Hill Street ready to set up. Also, the children should come dressed ready to start. Parents can simply drop the children off, but are equally welcome to come in and join the meeting. Visitors to the group pay £2 on the night.

The meeting should finish at approximately 8.45pm. All children should be picked up inside the college, as it will be very dark and the children may not know the car park area well enough to walk round.

Many thanks,

Mrs Lawson

Base 4 Mrs Cameron

STEM

Base 4 are very lucky to have Mrs Cameron ( who works at Spirit) coming in over the next 2 weeks to work on a series of lessons based on flight .  Yesterday we found out about drag, thrust, lift and weight and why they are all needed to make a plane fly.   We made some tricky paper aeroplanes and had fun getting them to fly.

We are looking forward to Mrs Cameron returning on Thursday for more experiments.

World War II Play

Congratulations to all the Primary 7s who put on a fabulous performance this week based around Grammar School; Kilmarnock and events around the world during the WW2 time. They delivered their lines so well – everyone taking on at least a small part. Well done! Thanks also to some of the P5s and P6s of Base 4 for coming along to support us with the songs.

Over £170 from ticket sales will go to Poppy Scotland. Thank you!

P7 Swimming

Every Tuesday Mrs Lawson’s class go to  The Galleon to get  swimming lessons . We go to either improve our swimming or, for the people who are unsure, learn to swim and feel more comfortable in the water. We all really enjoy going for swimming lessons because it is fun and a good experience for us as young people because swimming is a life skill and is a very crucial skill to learn . Our swimming teachers are Ron , Maureen and Anne. They are very nice and help us enjoy swimming even more! We cant wait for the next few weeks at The Galleon .
