Gargieston Primary has traditionally taken part in the Ayrshire and Scottish orienteering festivals over a number of years and have competed to a high level. This of course was down to the dedication and enthusiasm of Ms Harvey. Mr Smith and myself (Mrs Mackie) would love to keep this tradition alive and are hoping to get as many children to attend these events as possible. Every year there are evening training events run by AYROC, giving the children experience of an orienteering course. Here is the information:
Ayrshire Schools Orienteering Training Evenings.

Help keep this tradition alive!
Sam and Joe from Primary 6 represented the school at the K-nex quarter finals yesterday. They tried really hard and were a credit to the school. Well done boys.
Primary 4A had great fun working together learning all about Fair Trade during Global Citizenship week. We linked this to articles in RRS using our UN Convention on the Rights of the Child posters.
We are looking for some help from anyone who owns a van and can help with the uplift of some heavy items.
If you think you can help please phone the school and ask to speak to Mrs Lawson.
Many thanks.
Primary 7 children have been learning all about the circumference of a circle and the formula:
C = πD
Then they had a challenge to see who could list pi to the most numbers after the decimal point. Well done to Emily Robinson who took it to 17 places after the point! Wow!
Here’s Emily with her gold card and her 10 colours of Hama beads representing each figure in the sequence.
Hello, my name is Orla McAllister. Here, on the right, is my friend, Emma Simpson. I am in P6 and I am also a member of the Rights Respecting Schools Group. Over the Christmas holidays I found out about a charity in Kilmarnock called C.A.S.E. These letters means Caring and Sharing Effectively. They sell second hand items for money that is used to help people in need, for example homeless people, sometimes in our local area and sometimes abroad. I spoke to Mrs. McLaughland and told her I would like to help this charity. My friend, Emma Simpson and I made a powerpoint about C.A.S.E. to show at an assembly so that everyone would know what they could do to help. We have quite a few bags of clothes and books but we would love more. This week is the last week. The bags will be collected from school by C.A.S.E. on Monday 26th March. Please click on the link below to see my powerpoint about how you can help.
Thanks, Orla and Emma

Please click on each link to show the impact of singing nursery rhymes both within the ECC and home environment. The tracker shows a positive impact for each session. Rhymes are important in raising phonological awareness which leads to your child being equipped with key skills for P1.
Our nursery rhyme of the week is Baa, Baa Black Sheep. Please focus on this rhyme within the home environment and listen to your child saying the rhyme as some of the children may be saying “bla” instead of “baa” and “day” instead of “Dame” I will share another chart in the next few weeks.
