The P7’s at Dunoon Primary School have been working on their IDL on Citizenship. Working in groups they have been researching and interviewing people in different sectors of the local community. Groups have been focusing on Care in the Community, Caring for the Environment, Other Cultures, The Law in Scotland, The Scottish Government and The History of Dunoon.
A packed hall of family, friends and members of the community enjoyed a terrific evening of music, dance and entertainment at our recent ceilidh. The children enthusiastically performed their songs and ceilidh dances and it was a great opportunity for the highland dancers to showcase their talents along with our instrumental performers (on chanter, accordion and violin).

The Children and Staff put on an amazing range of Christmas Gifts along with local stall holders who regularly support the school and its enterprises. The pupils were enthusiastic fund raisers especially on the tombola and even Elsa turned up for the raffle!

Lochgoilhead Primary School participated in Scotland’s Maths Week Challenge with some exciting enquiry based learning. As soon as the pupils arrived on Monday morning, they attended a specially arranged assembly where they were all invited to help solve a problem. The large grass area surrounding the school was too long and needed to be ready by Friday for a sports event. With the usual gardening maintenance team not able to visit the school until the following week, the children were put into mixed age groups to try and come up with possible solutions.

Achaleven’s Got Skills!
12th – 16th June was a very busy time at Achaleven Primary!
We packed in a lot in a short space of time starting with tag rugby with Allan and Ellie who put us through our paces, kept us active and we worked together well to achieve great results. We planned a trip to Glen Nant for the Wednesday so this involved creating a risk assessment.
Kirn Primary has had an amazingly active Health Week, with a huge range of fun activities to take part in. Instructors have visited to run workshops for children to learn about Basketball, Swimming, Karate, Tai Chi, Keep Fit, Highland Games events, Baton Twirling, Indoor Bowls, Golf and Rugby. P7 children held a sponsored walk and the iCycle Programme has continued during this week.
A few weeks ago, one of our older pupil’s had the fantastic idea of doing a sponsored walk to raise money for Learning Centre funds, particuarly to buy new outdoor equipment and toys. The LC2 class planned and organised the walk in consultation with the head teacher. We used Google maps to plan our route – it was 2.5 miles from the school to the Sandbank swing park which we thought was perfect. We wrote to parents, made posters which the younger children in LC1 helped to decorate, and carried out a risk assessment.

The Minard pupils were delighted to welcome pupils from far flung Cowal to share in the outdoor learning opportunities which are on their doorstep.
