Southend Primary School – Burns Bash

Southend Primary School held a Burns Lunch to celebrate the Baird.

The lunch was extended to the children’s family, friends and wider Southend Community.

The lunch was chaired by one of the 20 guests, Mr. Robert Millar.

Before the meal of haggis, neeps and tatties the children recited the Selkirk Grace and Address to the Haggis. Following the meal, tea, coffee and shortbread was enjoyed by all. The children then gave the Immortal Memory.

This was followed by “We’re Gangin on a Bear Hunt” performed with wonderful expressions and actions.

A musical interpretation of the Tale of Tam played on a wide variety of instruments held the audience’s attention and Highland dancing completed the entertainment.

The event was concluded with some Scottish dancing which the guests were invited to join in and a rendition of Auld Lang Syne.

We are very grateful to the Kitchen staff for providing and serving a lovely meal, for the support given by the parents and local community and finally to the children whose hard work resulted in a wonderful performance.
