WEDNESDAY 25TH March

Hello Yellow Class!

Hope you are all well and everyone is keep safe.

Here is a guide to Wednesday! Please take it at your own child’s pace. If they don’t complete all the tasks, that is completely fine, it will take some time for everyone to adapt to learning at home.

Circle Time – We start our circle time singing “hello – super simple songs” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVlcKp3bWH8

This is also the time we started to learn some Spanish. Leave you here some Spanish translations.

Good morning – “Buenos Dias”

Hello – “Hola”

How are you? – “como estas?”

We then talk about how we are feeling today (happy, sad, tired, and excited). We find how does the weather look like and what day it is – You can do your calendar book.

And we finish our circle time sharing the last day news – Feel free to share your news, by email, posting here on blog some videos, photos or comments. J

Life skills – I set up a challenge for you this week. What about help mum and dad with the dishes. You were all doing great in the classroom, with more or less support.

Literacy – Try to find in your house between 2 – 10 things that start with letter “M”. Ask mum or dad to hide 3 of those objects and go find them. Parents can give you some clues. Use the code “hot” if they are getting close to the object, “cold” if they are moving away from the object. You can make teams/pairs to have extra help.

P.E. – go on the PE section of the blog and choose one of the activities your PE teacher posted for you.

Story – Watch Justin Fletcher reading ‘The Monkey With a Bright Blue Bottom’

Sign of the day – Don’t forget to be practicing the sign of the day – if you want to send me a video then feel free

Art – Make a Garden Art Box

The garden is full of inspiration for budding artists.

Find an empty shoebox. Cut out plant pictures from old seed and plant catalogues I(if you don’t have any you can draw some or even paint directly on the box. Feel free to use your imagination) and then glue them to the box for decoration.  Cover the box with clear contact paper.  Although it won’t be waterproof, this will make it more durable.

Science – Do you know which solids dissolve in water? Here you have a fun and easy experiment that you can make at home.

You will need:

  • Water (hot and cold)
  • Transparent containers
  • Substances to try and dissolve (sugar, salt, sand, pepper, coffee…)

Method:

  1. Add a tea spoon of whichever you are testing to a glass of cold water and a glass of hot water, stir and observe the difference.
  2. Look to see if the solids dissolves in the cold water and hot water and if one is better than the other.
  3. Can you take pictures to record your observation?

The Science bit: Things like salt, sugar,= and coffee dissolve in water. They are soluble. They usually dissolve better and faster in hot water. Pepper and sand are insoluble. They do not dissolve even in the hot water.

HWB  – can you name and find some parts of your body. You can do it pointing to your body or you can have fun and sing and dance with “head, shoulders, knees and toes” so familiar for you and I know you love it.

If you would like to explore a little bit further why not try it in Spanish. Have fun J

You can make make lots of wonderful Art using some paint and your finger prints. Here are some ideas of things you could make:

Can you create finger prints using different colours?

All across the nation people have been creating pictures of Rainbows and sticking them to their windows in an effort to cheer people up. Here is a template that you may find useful.

Gold Class Science – 25.03.2020

I know that Gold Class have been learning all about water. Can you do a floating/sinking experiment today?

Look around the house and collect lots of different things that you are allowed to put in some water. Fill up the sink, bath or a box with water.

Before you put the things in the water – have a guess  if it is going to float or sink. Put them in the water one at a time and see if you were right!

Don’t forget to take a photo of your experiment and send it to Lorna.
