Tuesday 24th March

Hello again,

You will see there’s a selection of things on today’s timetable so just keep an eye out for lots of ideas coming your way! You can select each category down the side of the blog so if you don’t see it on Silver Class 3 try selecting something different e.g. “gardening” or “Dance”.

Life Skills/Jobs around the house

There is a selection of ideas in your home learning pack but here’s a reminder of things you can try at home:

Why not help mum or dad to make breakfast or lunch today?

ICT/Technology

I’d love to see what you are getting up to at home so take some pictures or video and email them to your teacher!

Or if you would rather do some building.. here is day 1 of the 30 Day Lego Challenge

Story

Silver class recently made their own caterpillars and beautiful butterflies as part of our “Living Things” topic!

Read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” if you have it, If not, here is a little animated film of the story:

Fiddly Fingers:

Here are some ideas – it’s amazing what you can do with stuff lying around in the house!

Gardening

The Silver class planted some Sunflower seeds and had some lovely plants before school closed (as part of our “Living Things” topic. Let’s have a look and see how they are doing!

Wow!! Looks like some of the seeds are growing and we are starting to see some stem poking through the compost! Well done Silver class! Here is a sunflower diary you can download if you like, or you can make your own at home by just drawing what you see in the pictures and telling an adult.

Now let’s have a look at our plants…

Oh my goodness!! When we got these there were no flowers at all. They are growing big and bright and beautiful! I will keep you updated on how they grow.

Health and Wellbeing (HWB)

If you haven’t tried it already – Joe Wicks the body coach is doing LIVE fitness workouts every morning. I’ve also attached some idea cards if you’d rather make up your own routine!

Group 2 – Tuesday

Don’t forget to pick up your free school meals from many schools in West Lothian

TODAY

Carry on with hello/calendar and sign of the day (Lorna is putting this up daily)

Movement – join Go Noodle and maybe try a co-ordination activity or maybe a breathing one – there are lots of categories

Snack – we will be working up to making some recipes with eggs – but today can they spread their own piece of bread with butter? – can they cut it into half? quarters?

ICT/Technology – Kirsty has put some ideas on the ICT/Technology category – have a look

Dance – This morning Oti Mabuse from Strictly is teaching a dance lesson at 11.30am on her Youtube/Instagram channel – how about it!

Story time – how about listening to a story – Amazon have cancelled their subscription for Audible which you can stream on your desktop, laptop, phone and tablet

https://stories.audible.com/start-listen

Fiddly fingers – I’ve been untangling some wool this morning – my intention is to try and get back to my crochet…now this class with me were brilliant at sewing and weaving – have a look on Youtube for some new craft skills – maybe see if they can sew a button back onto a shirt – they all had a chance to use needles and thread last term when made their beautiful aprons!

Gardening – get outside if can in the garden!! what is growing? can you see any signs of Spring? point these out to the children – buds on the branches, shoots poking out from the soil, you might be in the countryside – are there any lambs in the fields?

HWB – today is going to be even stranger for the families – maybe share some time together playing a game together – snap is a great one or matching cards even – taking turns and being with another person are great skills

Enjoy your Tuesday !

HBW – Washing hands Group 4

Good morning everyone.

After you have completed your Circle time activities today, you might like to continue learning about good hygiene and how we keep our hands clean. We have been talking about this at school and done some activities. Today, I would like you to have a look at the video below about the importance of washing our hands.

Click here (require sign up to access the video, it’s free)

Check out the link below to a PowerPoint which teaches us how best to wash our hands. You could do this together.
