Cool Creatures in Primary 1 !

Today we welcomed Chelsea from ‘Party Animal Encounters’ who came along to Primary 1 with some very cool creatures indeed !

What did we see ?

a tarantula – Matthew and Max

a racoon – Max

a bunny – Karol

a lizard – Isla and Oona

a snake – Mikolaj

a tortoise – Matthew P

a mouse – Olivia

a chinchilla – Ava

What did we learn ?

We learnt that some animals are nocturnal whilst others are diurnal.  We also learnt what the animals like to eat.   We had a fantastic time looking at each of the animals.  We even got to touch and hold some of these.  We were very brave.  Some of us had a rat on our shoulders ]!   We got to each animal one at a time.  Some of the nocturnal ones were quite sleepy, the racoon started to snore  but the diurnal animals were happy to be held and have a look around the class.  This afternoon has been so good ! A huge thank you to ‘Party Animals Encounters’ for coming along to our school.

P1’s ‘Star Pupils of the Week’ and ‘Dojo Champions’.

Primary 1 have had such a busy week, and have worked so hard! We have been learning to add numbers (we know the number gets bigger); we have been learning lots more sounds; we have been reading new books (and blending sounds to read words); we have been learning about owls (we had a visit from the Owl Man!!); we have been learning about where light comes from; we have had a special P1 Mass; we watched the P3 assembly; and lots more!

This week, as usual, it was very hard to choose our stars of the week! However, we had 3 children who have been working so hard all year and have been so kind to others! So we’d like to say a huge congratulations to Alfie, Julia and Emma.

Well done everyone and I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Feathery Visitors in P1!!!

Today, Primary 1 had such an exciting afternoon with some very special visitors. As part of our light and dark topic, we have been learning about nocturnal animals. So today, we were visited by 6 owls!

They were so cute! We had:

Chili – Chili is a spectacled owl from the South American jungle. She is 6 years old, and prefers warm weather. Today, she was making lots of ‘hissing’ noises, that reminded Mrs Baty of her cats when they fight. She also kept turning around to face away from us. I think she maybe didn’t like being woken up during the day.

img_20161110_132159126

Cuddles – Cuddles is a barn owl, and is also 6 years old. She is mainly white, with light brown feathers too. She was very calm and friendly, although also kept trying to fly away (it’s okay – she had her lead on, so she couldn’t go far!).

img_20161110_132142074

Otis – Otis is a grey, long eared own. Although we did learn yesterday that owls ears are hidden. We asked about this – Otis is called a long eared owl, but actually it’s not his ears that are sticking up, just feathers. The ears are actually hidden underneath, just as we thought.

img_20161110_132137305

Poppy – Poppy is a small, brown, tropical screech owl. She made some little squeaks whilst we were holding her, but not loud at all. She is also from South America, and is 4 years old. We was very good when we were holding her, and loved strokes on her head. She looked like she was going to sleep! Mrs Baty thought she looked a little bit like a pom pom.

poppy

Bell – Bell is a tengmals owl. She is also very small. She didn’t really want her photo taken, she kept looking away. She was showing off, by showing us how far around she could turn her head. She is originally from Scandinavia, so doesn’t mind the cold weather.

img_20161110_132126307

Daisy – Daisy is a white faced owl. She also has feathers that look like ears. She is originally from South Africa, and is about 6 years old. She was showing off for us by doing a little dance whilst we were having a chat. We were able to hold her too, although she kept fidgeting and flapping her wings.

2

We also found out lots more facts about owls. We have been learning that owls are nocturnal animals (meaning they come out at night) but actually we found this is isn’t quite right.

If an owl has dark coloured eyes, they come out at night.

If it has yellow eyes, it comes out during the day.

If it has orange eyes, it comes out at sunrise or sunset.

We also learned that they sleep up to 20 hours a day!

We then asked some fantastic questions:

Lennox – How long are their wings?

A – all owls have very big wings for their size

Matthew – do they fly fast or slow?

A – they actually fly quite slowly for birds. They only get to about 30mph.

Dermott – why are they tied onto logs?

A – they have to be tied up, the same way a dog has a lead when it goes out – so that it doesn’t fly off and hurt itself. The log is so it’s got something comfortable to sit on.

Lucas – can they fly really high in the sky?

A – they actually stay very low so they can find food. They don’t go higher than the trees.

Overall, we had a fantastic afternoon!!!

Customers and Staff at a Spanish Cafe

Primary 1 and Primary 6 got together for language learning on Wednesday by creating a Spanish cafe in class.  We learned how to ask what a customer would like and how to reply with our food choices  – all in Spanish!  Mrs Baty and I were delighted with our children’s confidence and their ability to have a short conversation in Spanish – we were also delighted that we all got to eat fruit, cake, cheese and chocolate!

St Nicholas is celebrating Halloween…

on Friday the 28th of October.  St Nicholas pupils can, if they wish, take part in the traditional Scottish activity of ‘guising’ for Halloween on Friday of this week.  Mums and dads, please be sensible and make sure that costumes aren’t too frightening – we don’t want our younger children to be scared.  Thank you.

P1 Visitor

Image result for police clipart uk

Today P1 were very lucky to have a special visitor. We were visited by 2 policemen (PC Robertson and PC Hart)!!

We were very excited (and on our best behaviour).

Who helps us?

Ava – lollypop man (he has an orange jacket and a hat and a stick)

Haziq – shopkeepers

Louvisa – they wear a uniform

James – and a badge

Joshua – high service (customer service)

We learned a lot about Stranger Danger – we know that we don’t speak to people we don’t know!

We had some questions we were bursting to ask. Lots of these were about the uniform they were wearing. We wanted to know why it was bright yellow, what the pen was for, and what the handcuffs looked like . The policeman even arrested the teddybear!

We also asked:

Olivia – How do you catch bad guys? (we are really fast, and some people tell us where the bad guys are?)

Joshua – where do you do? (we take the bad guys to the police station)

Arran – is the car bumpy or not bumpy? (it can get bumpy when we drive fast)

Roman – do you only catch bad guys? (we only catch bad guys, but we speak to good and bad people)

James – do you drive really fast? (only in an emergency)

Tyler – why do you have a police hat? (so everyone knows we are policemen)

Kayleigh – why do you have handcuffs? (in case the bad guys run away)

Lucas – do you have a police ambulance? (no, but we do have a police van)

Leo – why do you have a radio? (so that in an emergency we can speak to each other when we’re far away)

Joshua – why do you have a flashlight? (so we can see in the dark, because we work at nighttime too, to keep you safe).

We then all had a chance to wear the policemans hat! (including the bear).

We then got a chance to see the police van! We were so excited!

We had such a fun day!

(photos will be posted later!)

DSCF6423

Have a great weekend everyone, see you all on Monday for more learning and fun in primary 1.

Your teachers.

More people who help us!

Our primary one children had a fantastic day today visiting our local fire station!

The children listened well as the fireman told them what his job was. They learned all about the uniforms (did you know that most fire fighters wear yellow helmets, but the one who’s in charge wears a white helmet?!) and all about the fire engines (in Scotland they are red with blue lights – the same as the ambulance!!)

We learned that at Broxburn, all the firefighters have pagers, which beep when it’s time to go to work, but other stations have fire fighters who eat and even sleep there!

They then saw what fire fighters have to wear (Mrs Evans and Mrs Baty modeled the uniform – it was very heavy and warm!!)

We also learned what to do if we ever see someone on fire (tell them to Stop, Drop and Roll – you can see us practicing this in our photos).

After that, the children went outside to explore the fire engine. They even got a shot of a water hose out of the fire engine!

All primary 1 children were fantastic on our first trip! Thank you again to our fabulous parent helpers!

Working Hard in Primary 1a!!

We have been having so much fun and we’ve been working very hard in Primary 1a! Mrs Baty is very proud of us!!

We have been learning all about pattern. We know that pattern means ‘it is repeated’. We have been making patterns with colour using counters / cubes, and we have begun making patterns with shapes. We also made a pattern using ourselves!!! (sitting and standing).

patternpattern 2 pattern 3

Today we read the story of Elmer the Elephant. Elmer was sad because he was different from all the other elephants. He painted himself grey, but quickly realised that by embracing his unique personality and his colours, he was happier and he made everyone else happier. We then spoke about what makes us all special and unique.

We had some brilliant answers:

Joshua – I was really good at football when I was wee

Olivia- I am very good at swimming and gymnastics

Ben – When I was younger I went to football and I was really good

Toby – when I am a grown up I am going to be a really good  fireman

Rian – I am really good at football

Roman – I am really good at football and I can go under the water

Daniel – I am really good at football

Leo – I’ve played in lots of football games

Tyler – I am good at swimming underneath the water

Matthew – I am really good at football

Lucas – I am good a lot of games

Daniella – My daddy’s daddy used to live in Sri Lanka

Lennox – I can jump in the swimming pool from really high

Abdullah – I am good with my bike

Hugh-John –  I am good at swimming

Julia –  I am a perfect ballerina

Nadia – I am good at ballet

Dermott – I am really good at painting

Arran – I can speak snail

Ava – I am really good at football

We then decorated our own Elmer in our own unique way. We were excited to add glitter to make them super special.

Last week we made our beautiful Rainbow Fish, whilst learning about how to be kind to each other by sharing. Our Rainbow Fish look ‘amazing’, ‘fantastic’ and ‘beautiful’ on our wall.

We have also been learning to draw a self portrait. Don’t they look fantastic?

Another super day in P1c

image image image image image image image image image

This morning the boys and girls were practising colouring and cutting. They designed their own butterfly using the different colours of the rainbow (just like the butterfly in The Hungry Caterpillar).

After break we read The Rainbow Fish story. We spoke about what this story was teaching us and how we can be like the rainbow fish in our classroom. We have all agreed to be kind, helpful and good at sharing just like the Rainbow Fish.

Little Explorers in P1c!

We have spent the morning getting to know each other and exploring our new environment. We found lots of exciting things to play with!

After seeing our buddies at break we read The Hungry Caterpillar. This got us chatting about the different foods that we like to eat. We also discussed things that we like to do in our spare time. After that, we drew self portraits which are displayed on our classroom wall.

We have had a great day!

Lovely day in Primary 1a!

Primary 1a have had another exciting day at school today.

This morning we had fun doing lots of different activities to build our fine motor skills. We drew spikes on crocodiles, we playing with jumping frogs, we made necklaces, we played with laces, and we played / danced with some playdoh to the Doh Disco (so much fun!).

After playtime (where we got to see our buddies again), we listened to the story The Rainbow Fish. We had a chat about the importance of sharing, and discussed the ways each of us have shared things with others. We then had to share the glue, scissors, and coloured paper, to make our very own Rainbow Fish. They look beautiful!

Welcome to Primary 1a

We had a fantastic morning in Primary 1a, we had so much fun and made lots new friends.

We showed Mrs Baty how clever we were by doing fantastic listening, sitting and by putting up our hands to talk.

We played some circle time games to get to know our classmates, and found out all of our favourite animals. We all seem to like cats, dogs, lions and penguins amongst others.

We had a story after break time and met our story animals. They help us to listen nicely to the stories, and sometimes ask questions too.

We even got to use some paint to make a friendship tree for our classroom (photo to follow).

Have a look below at our super smart First Day Photos. Don’t we look super?!

Keep checking back to see what else we get up to in our first week of Primary 1.

Goodbye P1a from Mrs Macdonald.

I would like to say a big thank you to all of my lovely boys and girls for working so hard all year and making me very proud to be your teacher.  I am going to miss you all ! Have a lovely Summer and I will see you around the school when you get to Primary 2.

Love,

Mrs Macdonald xxx

PS – Thank you so much for the lovely best wishes, cards and gifts.  I have been truly spoiled.

Thank you from P1 and P1b.

Thank you to all of our lovely mummies, daddies, grannies and grandads for coming along to our assembly.  We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did! We are looking forward to a well earned rest this weekend.

For working hard, we have decided that all of our children deserve to be ‘Star Pupil of the Week’.   A special treat will follow on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend everyone !

Mrs Macdonald and Mrs Baty.

Day 8 of Primary 1’s Fitness Fortnight.

Today we had a visit from three lovely ladies from ‘West Lothian Gymnastics’. What did we do ?  Well we all went to the gym hall and had a gymnastics taster session .  It was amazing ! First of all we played a warm up game called ‘Breakfast’ before we stretched out.  We were then placed into three groups and let loose on the equipment doing forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, kangaroo jumps and more jumping using the springboard.  We had such a good time that some of us wanted to have another go.  Well done everyone for working hard !

Fitness Fortnight continued – Karate

Primary 1a and 1b had a fantastic afternoon of Karate. Some of us have already experienced Taikwondo or Karate before, and we were keen to show off our skills.

We found out that Karate is a Japanese sport.

We began by learning how to say hello in Japanese. They are very formal. To say hello, they bow, with their hands at their sides and their feet together. The more important the person, the lower we bow. So of course, we all bowed very low to our teachers!

We then learned how to count to 5 in Japanese.

1 – ish

2 – ni

3 – san

4 – chi

5 – go

We then learned different ways to punch and kick correctly, so as not to hurt ourselves. (Of course, we learned that this is just a sport, and only to be done in safe environments, such as in karate or taikwondo classes).

We learned a forward punch – it is important to keep our thumb tucked away, punch in a straight line, and use the top part of our first 2 fingers.

We learned to a head block and a side block (to stop others punching us).

We then learned something called a slap kick – we don’t use the bottom of our foot or our toes, as this would hurt. Instead, we use the top part of our foot.

We practiced all of these on punching pads, held only by the instructors. We then got a go at using the pretend man called Bob. This was fun as he was very squishy and wobbled a lot.

We also had lots of fun playing games. These games were to help us get fit, and to exercise our muscles. We played an opposites game. We found this tricky at first but eventually got the hang of it. If the man said sit, we had to stand. If he said fight, we had to dance.

We then played a dice game. The dice had different exercises on it, including crunches, push ups, star jumps and squats. There was even a side which got the teachers to do 25 exercises! Luckily it only landed on this once. It was very funny watching Mrs Baty trying to do 25 push ups! She’s not as fit as us.

We had a really fun day, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the week.

Primary 1’s Fitness Fortnight Day 6.

We have had a fantastic day today !

What have we been up to ?

This morning we took a walk up to the ‘Range Park’.  Some of us had already been before so we were already familiar with it.  For some of though, it was our first time there and we were amazed when we saw all of the super things there.  What did we see ?

a  flying fox

a climbing wall

a roundabout

a chute

an obstacle course

a trampoline

a roundabout

and lots of lovely green grass and sand for us to run around on.

We all had lots of super fun running around and using the equipment. It was really great !  We arrived back to school just before lunchtime having walked back.  Mrs Macdonald and Mrs Baty agreed that because we walked up and down to the park we didn’t have to do our ‘Daily Mile’ back at school.  Phew !!!!

In the afternoon we had a visit from a nurse ! She told us lots of super things about our body and what we can do to keep ourselves strong and healthy.  She also showed us what a heart looks like and told us how important it is to exercise.  We learnt that children’s hearts should beat between 80-120 beats per minute.  We also learnt how important it is to wash our hands.  It was a very informative visit.  Thanks so much toMrs Purves for giving up her time to talk to us.

A big thank you also to Freya and Tavia’s mummy, Wiktoria’s mummy and Thomas’s mummy for coming along to the park this morning to help us.

Primary 1a’s ‘Star Pupil of the Week’and ‘DOJO Champion’.

It was very, very, very difficult to choose a star this week in P1a because all of the boys and girls are stars.  We have had such a busy week and every single one of the children has worked well and joined in every activity with great enthusiasm.

However, I have decided to give the ‘Star of the Week’ to Cole. He has impressed me with this week with his kindess towards others and how enthusiastic he has been with all our ‘Fitness Fortnight’ activities, (especially the daily mile).  Well done Cole !

Our DOJO Champion this week goes to Kuba ! Well done Kuba for getting points for tidying up, changing quickly and remembering his magic manners.

P1s Fab Fitness Fortnight Continued

P1 are having a brilliant week as part of our Fitness Fortnight. We are definitely feeling very fit …. and very tired!

Today we did our daily mile again. It is 6 times around the field. We have been walking most of the way, then running the last 2 laps, although some of us are pushing ourselves further to run more. We are noticing the differences now that we’ve been doing it more continuously.

This afternoon P1a had a yoga instructor come into the class. We had lots of fun trying to get ourselves into all the different positions. They had funny names, including The Airplane, The Bridge and The Cat. We had a lot of fun! (Primary 1b will get to try this next week).

This afternoon, P1b made some healthy snacks. We actually began by trying Mrs Baty’s smoothie (she wasn’t so keen on the ones we tried yesterday, so brought in one of her homemade ones). Lots of us liked it a lot more than the others, and we found out how easy it was to make.

We then made our own yoghurt snacks. We mixed yoghurt, coco powder, honey and banana, and put it in the freezer. We were hoping to eat them this afternoon, but they weren’t frozen enough. It’ll just have to be our breakfast tomorrow! (P1a will make these next week).

Day 3 – Primary 1’s Fitness Fortnight!

We have had another great day today ! We started our day off learning about lots of different fruits. We spoke about our favourite fruits before trying some of these in the form of smoothies.

We tried a mango and passion fruit smoothie, a pineapple, banana and coconut smoothie, a strawberry and banana smoothie and a pomegranate, blueberry and acai berry smoothie. We liked some of these better than others but we still tried them and some of us even asked for more.  A big well done to everyone for trying these , we are super proud of you all.

Primary 1b voted, and we decided our favourite was the strawberry and banana smoothie, although the mango and passion fruit was a very close second.

In the afternoon we went for our mile walk.  This is starting to become easier for us and we are enjoying being out in the fresh air.

Day 2 – Primary 1’s Fitness Fortnight !

Today has been another busy day gfor the boys and girls in P1a and P1b.

What did we do ?

We walked another mile today with the help of our lovely friends from P7. This is what we think about the daily mile :

Lara – I love it !

Mia – It is nice !

Gabriel – I am excited going for a walk.

Haroon – I like it because it gives me strength, (good words Haroon !)

After the daily mile we played games outside ‘Duck Duck Goose’ and ‘Donkey’.

After lunchtime we walked over to Strathbrock and did some Zumba. This was great fun! A huge thanks to Nina, the dance teacher for showing us some cool moves and helping us with our fitness.

P1b’s Fabulous Fairytales

Primary 1b had a great couple of weeks towards the end of our Fairytale Topic.

Thank you to all the mums and dads and grannys etc to who came to our Fairytale Showcase. We had such a great time telling you all about our learning. We have really enjoyed this topic.

ft1 ft2

After the showcase, we still had lots more to learn. We looked at the fairytale of Hansel and Gretal. We decided the witch was very nasty, and that we should be cooking her instead of her cooking Hansel. We wrote some amazing recipes for her.

We then made our own sweetie house. They looked yummy!

P1’s Fantastic Fitness Fortnight (Day 1)

Primary 1 have had a brilliant start to their Fitness Fortnight!

This morning we went on a trip to Craigswood Xcite Leisure Centre.

It was amazing! We had 7 different activities set up for us, and the trainers were very helpful.

We experienced shot-put, using basketballs before using REAL shotput balls!!

We tried the javelin. This was very tricky.

We tried the high jump and the long jump (I think we brought back most of the sand!)

We had a go at wellie throwing.

We had a hoop game, and we had races. We were all super fast, but eventually we got our boy and girl winners. We even got prizes!!

We had a really fab time!

ff1 ff2 ff3 ff4

Then, this afternoon, we took part in our daily mile. We are enjoying it a lot more and are finding it easier now. We are even trying to run more and more of it.

Then we had some team building games.

We had a hoop game – we had to get the hoop around the circle, without letting go of each others hands. This was quite tricky, but Mrs Baty & Mrs Gaffney’s team seemed to get the hang of it very quickly.

We then had some wheelbarrow races. Most of us went in the right direction! This was great fun though.

Finally, we played a game with a ball. We stood in a row in our team, and had to pass the ball along the line in a pattern. We were quite good at this, but rather tired by this point.

Overall, we had a fantastic day! (and what great weather it was too!)

Hopefully we’ll all sleep very well tonight, and be ready for more adventures tomorrow.

Fairytale Fun in P1 !

Here are some of us dressed up as dragons, pirates, knights and princesses.  We even have a couple of Jacks from ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, and two Big Bad Wolves .  EEK !!!!!  Can you spot the Ice Queen and the Gingerbread Man ?  Little Red Riding Hood and one of the three bears have dropped by too ! We are looking forward to our fairytale showcase this afternoon.

DSCF6081

We came in from lunch today to find yet another surprise left for us in our classrooms.  Two lovely cuddly kangaroos and their babies were waiting for us!  Who left these for us you may ask ?

It was Harry, our lovely Saint Nicholas friend who has returned from a well earned holiday in Australia!

Thank you to Harry for your kindness ! We were so happy with our gift that we decided to learn lots about kangaroos.  We learnt that :

  • Kangaroos are found in Australia.
  • Kangaroos can hop around quickly on two legs or walk around slowly on all four.
  • Kangaroos can’t walk backwards.
  • Kangaroos have very powerful legs and can be dangerous at times.
  • Kangaroos can jump very high, sometimes three times their own height.
  • Kangaroos can swim.
  • Most kangaroos eat grass.
  • Baby kangaroos are known as ‘joeys’.

Primary 1b’s Magical Morning

Primary 1b had a very fun morning, imagining we had a Fairy Godmother, just like Cinderella!

We had some lovely wishes to ask her. We will soon be making magic wands to see if we can help make some of them come true. Photos will come later.

A very big well done to Umaima for being this week’s ‘Star Pupil’.  Umaima has worked well all week and especially on her writing.  Her letter to our Friendly Dragon was super !  Well done to Leon for being this week’s ‘DOJO Champion’.  Leon has been working well all week remembering and been a helpful and kind boy in class.

Who will it be next week ?

Amazing Adventures in Primary 1b

Hola!

My greatest appologies for the long delay since my last update.

Primary 1b have been so busy since coming back from the Easter holidays.

First of all, our most exciting news is that we have had some post. We have had letters from ‘The Friendly Dragon’. He lives in Fairyland, but he needs our help. Fairyland is disappearing, and he has asked us to read lots of fairytales, and rebuild Fairyland in our classroom, so all the fairytale characters have somewhere to go.

So far we have read Jack and Beanstalk, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Rumpelstiltskin, and The Three Little Pigs.

We have written some amazing stories of what we would see if we climbed the beanstalk. We also build a huge beanstalk in the classroom.

A couple of days later we came back in the classroom to see a huge mess in the classroom. Porridge was spilled everywhere and chairs were knocked over. It turns out Goldilocks had been in our classroom. She was such a monkey. We decided to make some Wanted posters, so everyone can look out for her, as she needs to come to say sorry. Although, we also read a book written by the baby bear (his name is Sam). Goldilocks is actually his friend, so we think she might be back soon.

Last week we wrote a letter to the dragon to let him know all about our adventures. He visited our classroom during playtime to read our letters. He was very impressed!

He then left us a new story, and some clues.

3 little pigs

So this week we have been investigating The Three Little Pigs, to work out how to make our classroom comfortable for them to come to stay. We have got more straw, sticks and bricks in the class, and we are playing with them to build our own houses.

We have also been on an adventure around the school, to see what other materials things are made out of.

We found lots of metal, wood, bricks, fabric and plastic all over the school. Maybe the first two pigs could use some of these ideas? We also had some materials in the classroom, to investigate how heavy they are. We decided the feathers were the lightest, and the bricks were the heaviest.

materials collage 2 materials collage 4 materials collage 5 materials walk 1

We have been doing lots of other work too.

We are very very proud of our maths work at the moment. We have been adding numbers within 10, remembering the number bonds up to 10. We are getting very quick with these. We often play a game against Mrs Baty, and we ALWAYS win!

We have also been learning to answer take away sums. We are learning that we just need to count backwards.

We have even realised that adding and take away sums are linked! Did you know that?

adding 2 adding to 10

Finally, Gabrielle was in a dance competition a couple of weeks ago. Both her, and her sister in nursery, had some amazing costumes and some fantastic routines. Well done girls!

IMG_20160421_085230818_HDR

We will try our best to remind Mrs Baty to update you all again very soon. Until then, adios!

Primary 1a’s ‘Star Pupil of the Week’.

Here is Tavia ! She is our ‘Star Pupil of the Week’ in our class.  Tavia caught my eye this week for a number of reasons.  She has remembered to use her magic manners, she was VERY brave after falling and giving herself a nasty cut AND she has worked hard in her writing to make sure that she is using capital letters and full stops.  Well done Tavia, keep it up !

DSCF6072

We have no ‘DOJO Champion’ this week with it being a shorter week.  Points will be carried over next week.

Fairyland fun in P1.

We have some exciting news ! Our friendly dragon has left us another two letters.  He left us letter number 2 yesterday.  In his second letter he told us that he was so happy to see our classroom beginnning to look like Fairyland.  As a special gift he left us all a ‘Castle Book’ for us to write in. So, we have all drawn a picture of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ on the front covers.

Today though, has just been fantastic! We got a big shock after play time to see that someone had ran through our classroom and had spilt porridge oats all over the carpet.  After a lot of discussion we all agreed that we think this must have been GOLDILOCKS !!! She has been very naughty leaving our classroom in such a mess.

However, our shock turned to delight to see that the dragon had left us letter number 3 and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ to read. We read this story.  It was great!  We have asked Mr Macdonald to be on the look out for Goldilocks.  She needs to come back to our class to tidy up !

Here are some photographs of us all.

Primary 1’s special surprise !

The boys and girls from P1a and P1b got a special surprise today ! It would appear that a friendly dragon visited our classrooms whilst we were outside practising our capital letters.

We have been left a letter and a special D-mail box from this dragon.  He is sad because his land, ‘Fairyland’ has been destroyed so he wants us to turn our classrooms into a new Fairylands.

Well, as you can imagine this has caused great excitement and we are definitely up for this challenge.  We will keep you all posted over the next few weeks as to what we are going to do to rebuild Fairyland.
