Earth Hour

Dear School community,

We are all Eco Warriors and would like to invite you to support ‘Earth Hour 2019’!

Earth Hour is the Worlds biggest switch off event. Earth hour gives a powerful voice to people everywhere who want to put the world on the path to recovery.

You can find out more information here –

https://www.wwf.org.uk/earthhour#make-a-pledge-for-earth-hour-

To celebrate Earth Hour in school we have planned the following –

  • On Friday 29th March, everyone is invited to wear something to school that is ‘bright’ to show your support.
  • On Friday 29th March, we will also be taking part in our own Earth Hour. Lights and electricity will be switched off for one hour in the school.
  • We would like to warm up to this with at least 30 minutes of lights off each day in the week beginning 25th March (Monday-Thursday).
  • We will also be making our own Earth Hour Pledges and then a display.

The official Earth Hour is Saturday 30th March at 8.30pm. If you do anything as a family that weekend to celebrate Earth Hour then please let us know.

Thank you for your support!

Mrs Muir’s groups

Hello to my primary 1 and primary 2 groups!
If you are outside enjoying the snow or staying cosy inside, here are a few activities you could complete.
* practise writing your numbers and letters in the snow using your finger or a stick as a pencil
* practise writing your numbers and letters on paper using different colours
* draw a picture to match each sound you know
* practise your sound cards
* practise all the words in your word box. Can you make a sentence with the different words?
* draw a picture to show an alternative ending to your reading book
* practise your numbers and sounds using websites and apps such as top marks and pocket phonics.

You’re very welcome to take a photo or bring in anything you have completed today to show me.
Thank you and have fun!

Mrs C Muir

Primary 1 update 25.2.16

Primary One are having a busy week and our Dinosaur topic is coming to an end. This week we have been learning about the Stegosaurus and we have completed another page for our Dinosaur Fact Files. We have also continued to be Palaeontologists by making our own fossils with clay and pretending to dig bones by extracting chocolate chips from cookies! Tricky and delicious at the same time!
Next week we will be starting our new topic – The Enchanted Forest! We can’t wait to tell you more!

In Maths, we have been completing addition up to 10 and next week we will be moving on to Weight. We will be focusing on comparing objects and the language heavy/light, heavier/lighter and the same.
Reminders for next week –
• Indoor gym is every Thursday so please remember gym kit!
• Thursday is World Book Day. Children may dress up as a character from a book if they choose.
• Could every child please bring their favourite book to school on Thursday. They will be completing a task with their P7 buddy.
Thank you for your continued support.
