Primary 2 26.3.20

Happy Thursday Everyone!

We hope your week is going well and you are all safe and happy at home. It’s been lovely to hear from some of you about what you have been up to and some of the activities you have been trying out. Today you can continue to look at your packs and choose a Literacy, Numeracy and Across the Curriculum activity to complete. In your pack today we have included an imaginative writing task about Blackbeard. Try to remember our imaginative writing targets as you write – you could maybe underline and self-assess with pink to make you think/green for go after you have finished.

-Can you use different starters?

-Are your characters involved in the action?

-Can you take a new paragraph for beginning, middle and end?

-Can you include a simple ending?

Also if you are looking for an additional Maths challenge why don’t you try some out on: https://nrich.maths.org/9412

Next term we will be learning about hot and cold countries and in particular animals in these countries.  You might enjoy seeing what some of these animals at the zoo are getting up to now they’ve no visitors!

A very special job for you this evening at 8pm Primary 2! To thank all the NHS workers who are working so hard to keep everyone safe and well, many people around the UK are going to stand on their doorsteps at 8pm tonight to give them all a huge round of applause. Can you join in?

We look forward to hearing your news today.

  1. Afternoon Primary 2!
I hope you have all had a productive day, despite the dull weather. If you have been in contact with your friends in Primary 2, could you also remind them that their teachers are posting on the blog everyday and we would love to hear from them. Just leave us a comment under the specific blog post 🙂
Remember if you are still awake at 8pm tonight stand on your door step or by your window and give all our hard workers across the country a very big round of applause!!
Speak to you tomorrow Primary 2.
    Miss Rafferty and Mrs Oliver

  2. Afternoon Lorena!
Lovely to hear from you again. Were the animals doing anything exciting? Shame the weather isn’t a little better. I am glad you have been busy with the online learning. The e-books are fantastic and there are lots to choose from.
I think that your Mummy’s idea is a great one. That means you can share this with me when we return back to school 🙂
Stay in touch and keep working hard,
    Miss Rafferty

  3. Hi Aiden,

Lovely to hear from you! Your pirate ship sounds fantastic and well done for getting it to float. I’m glad you are enjoying the Education City games – what is your favourite? I hope your little brother is doing well and I am sure you will be a great help to Mum and Dad.

  4. Hi Miss Rafferty, Lorena again 😀 I just watched with mummy how are the animals doing at Edinburgh Zoo, I hope I can pay them a visit soon! Yesterday I played some games on Education City and read some new adventures of Kipper, Biff and Chip on Oxford Owl, I will read some more today, I like them a lot! My mummy had a great idea, to make a kind of a daily diary where to write down and draw a picture of my favorite activities I did the previous day so I do this every morning after breakfast for almost a week now! Mummy says this way I practice both my writing and drawing skills!

  5. Hi, Miss Pringle and Mrs Oliver

Hope you both well. I have enjoyed making my on pirate ship this week. I made it from water bottles, a straw and cardboard for the sail and flag. Then I Put it in my bath to see if it would float and it did. I also liked the tasks on education city.

  6. Good morning Harris!
So nice to hear from you, I am glad you are working hard and that was very kind of Mummy to buy you extra Literacy and Numeracy books to help aid your learning. What kind of activities have you been doing in these books?
The e-books are great! Some of the books online are the ones we would have been using in school. If you can, try to do a written activity afterwards and record this in your jotter. (Write about your favourite part, create a quiz, summarise the story, design a new front cover or write down any tricky words and practise them.)
That is great that you are having nice long walks with your dog and family 🙂 What is your dog’s name? Spring is definitely on its way……I have spotted daffodils, blossom on trees and green leaves starting to appear!
Missing you all too, but glad you are staying in touch.
    Miss Rafferty

  7. Morning Miss Rafferty. I hope you are well. I am working hard on my sheets, and mummy bought me some maths and spelling books that we are using too. I love the games on education city, and the oxford owl books are really good. We are going out for a long walk in the afternoons with the dog, to keep us fit and spot the signs of springtime. I miss you and my friends lots. Stay safe, Love Harris x
