An active week in P2/3!

P2/3 have really enjoyed taking part in a variety of activities for health week this week.

On Wednesday we joined Primary 2 in the hall to play a variety of games.  Miss Edmond and I were impressed with the super team work during the games.  There were some very red faces after playing the cat and mouse game!!  Well done to our class winners Jack, Daniel and Oskar!  Special mention to Daniel and Izaak who developed the tactic of standing really still near the wall and hoping no one would notice them!! (there are more photos of this session in Miss Edmond’s blog post)

Yesterday we had a session learning handball skills.  We learned about the correct way to carry and dribble the ball and we even managed to move while putting the ball through our legs!!

Today we were learning about how to hold a golf club correctly and had a go at putting and using a full swing to hit the ball.  The coach was very impressed by how many of the children managed to get the ball in the air!

A Day for Change in P2/3

Along with the rest of the school we took part in UNICEF’s Day for Change today.

After assembly we looked at the Eatwell plate to find out about the different food groups.  We know that a healthy diet comes from all of the different food groups and that not every child in the world is able to have all of the different foods.  With a partner we sorted lots of foods into the different food groups.

After hearing a bit more about the work UNICEF does we invented our own superhero to help change the world.  We had some very thoughtful superpowers.

Daniel’s superhero is able to make money to give to the people who don’t have much.

Yixuan’s superhero has the power to make water clean.

Sandee’s superhero was able to plant seeds and water them to create food for those who need it.

Andrew’s superhero helps children feel better.

We have learned lots about UNICEF today!

Our Week in P2/3

We have had a busy week in P2/3 this week.  In maths we have been continuing our work on using arrays and groups of to create repeated addition and multiplication sums.  We have been working out all the sums in the 2 times table.  Next week we look forward to continuing this work and developing our skills to help us share equally.

We have used our numeracy skills to help us complete a Roman timeline for our Romans topic.  We even learned that Rome was being built nearly 3000 years ago!

We are all very proud of our performers who said their poems in front of the whole school (having only had a short time to rehearse!)

Well done girls!

We look forward to hearing everyone perform in class next week.

P3 Weekly Highlights

Thank you to all the parents  who were able to make it along on Friday to receive their Book Bug Bags and to see the children working on different literacy and numeracy activities related to the books for Scottish book week.    I hope you all enjoy reading the stories and using your playing cards at home.

In topic we have been learning about ‘The Inuit’ and the Inukshuk, the singular of inuksuit, means “in the likeness of a human” in the Inuit language. They are monuments made of unworked stones that are used by the Inuit for communication and survival. The traditional meaning of the inukshuk is “Someone was here” or “You are on the right path.”

In Art we designed our own Inuksuit.

It has been another fantastic week in Primary 3 with lots of amazing learning.

In Science, we have been learning about our senses and in particular ‘sight’.  We have been using magnifying glasses to look at different objects and we’ve discovered that they make objects bigger.
