The children loved Showing off the work they have been doing on emotions with Claire Murray from Emotion Works today.  The whole school has been working on the Emotion Works cog system to help the children to understand their emotions.  They have been developing their vocabulary of emotion words, looking at how different emotions feel in their bodies, how they behave when they feel these emotions emotions and what triggers them to feel different things.  Next week we will be looking at how we can regulate our responses to our emotions!  Look our for our showcase in November where parents will get a chance to come in and find out more about what we have been doing!

PAT PALS in P6/7

Written by Findlay and Ben, P6/7

Today we had a PATPAL session in p6/7. There were lots of different activities such as bank statements, a shop and an interior designer task. We invited parents to see what we have been learning about money. We also had a comment board to see what parents thought of our learning. We all greatly appreciate you coming to see us. We all think that we all did very well.

“Thank you all very much for coming to our PAT PAL morning. Everybody in P6/7 says thank you for coming and hope you had fun.”     Andrew Hunter

We Are All Unique!

Written by Andrew and Jonathan, P6/7 056

We have been doing negative numbers in maths. Some people were working with Mrs Riley to do 055mental maths games and some were playing games on the smartboard.

We also got a reading chart home and when you read a book you mark it down on the day you read something then you need to write down your favourite book, then if you hand it in you get 10 dojo points.

Today we had very special visitors to  talk to us about how we are all unique. They gave us potatoes and we had to write a life story and give the potato a name, then we got to decorate it. It was very funny! Then we had to try and identify our potato.065

Financial education through our PATPAL Morning

A quick reminder to all of our parents that tomorrow is the day of our PATPAL Morning (Pupils As teachers, Parents As Learners). All staff and children are looking forward to welcoming you into our classrooms to share our Numeracy learning around the theme, ‘I spend, I save’ from 9.15am – 10.15am.

This focus on money sense will help to prepare our children with skills for life and work. To help you to help develop these skills further at home I have uploaded a booklet called ‘I spend, I save’ to the Useful Documents page. This contains activities and useful web links to family learning games on money.

After the PATPAL morning we will have a coffee morning and recycled uniform shop in the small hall.

Please come and encourage your child in his / her learning!
