What’s happening in P4?

We had lots of fun in our vertical learning groups this week. Zoe really enjoyed her time beginning to work on ‘The Bankton News’. Carlos feels very proud about being the director of the newspaper. Isabel is looking forward to helping the tuck shop team get out tuck shop back and working properly again for everyone to enjoy. Louise is looking forward to making her egg race kart in science. Brooke was in the song writing group and loved writing a song about Bankton. We can’t wait to hear it.

Lots of people have really enjoyed our new golden time rota. People get to choose which activity they want to do each week. Laura has had great fun playing board games in Mr Herman’s class. Ryan likes working with construction materials in golden time. Pramila loves art work and painting with Mrs Ferguson during golden time.

Sanah liked adding tens and units this week and thought that it was easy. Everyone is working hard- well done P4.september 2015 013 september 2015 003

For our first fundraising challenge, we are raising money for a charity that supports orphans in Kenya, and helps support them through school. It is an amazing charity that aims to ‘give kids in Kenya a chance.’

More information can be found here:

Did you know Mo Farah was wearing one of the charity bracelets on television?! We will be supporting the children in this orphanage too!

We will keep you posted about the fundraising events that will be taking place this term including our:

  •  Going on Safari Dress Down Day-Friday 16th October
  • African Art Competition– Entries will be from home and will cost 50p. There will be a winner selected from each class and as well as a prize…the winning pieces of art work will be taken to the orphanage in Kenya to share with the children there!
  • Book Sale– On Wednesday 14th October we will be holding a book sale. If you have lots of books at home, in good condition that you would like to donate, please start to bring these into school for the Fantastic Fundraisers to collect.
  • Pin the tail on the giraffeSTARTING SOON! 20p a go at playtimes and lunchtimes. Winners will be given a raffle ticket and small prize. One overall winner will be selected on the dress down day.

The Fantastic Fundraisers are already extremely excited about the work they are involved in, so if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask any members of the team!

Some of them have even offered  to dedicate some play times and lunch times to get everything organised and are keen to get to work!

P3a

Primary 3 along with the rest of the school had great FUN doing the wig walk!

We are enjoying the new Golden Time going into different groups and getting involved in various activities.

Louise said she had FUN completing the 3D wedding cake challenge.

We are looking forward to the long weekend. Miss Henderson is looking forward to a long lie on Monday!

Wig Walk

Today, the whole school went on a wig walk to raise money for Jak’s Den.  We had lots of fun and even the swans tried to get in on the action!

Lauren liked counting and flying like a bird with her buddies during the walk, Paul enjoyed finding the signs of autumn with his buddy, Olivia liked looking at the leaves that had fallen down and Tyler liked kicking the fallen leaves.

Have a look at some of our pictures.

Rights Respecting Schools

Today, we started our Rights Respecting Schools P1 to P3 group. Miss Rodford introduced the idea that children all have rights. Miss Rodford told us that we were going to a new planet and we had to pack a bag to help us to live on that planet.

We thought about what things we might need to take to be able to grow up there….

‘We will need food’ Ryan

‘We will need water ‘Ryan

We will need clothes ‘Iona

The children then sorted lots of pictures to whether or not they were important to help us start a new life on this planet.

We decided at the end that all children had a right to these different things.
