P1b worked very hard last week. The children were busy learning some new sounds and also worked on counting and forming numbers correctly. Abi enjoyed playing outside with her buddy while Charley enjoyed decorating her crown when we were learning about ‘c’. Ben enjoyed making his upside monster during our ‘m’ work.
We have really enjoyed welcoming some of our new nursery children and their families this week. Everyone has settled into nursery life really well and our returning children have been especially helpful showing their new friends all of the different areas of the nursery.
We were very excited this week when we found a bucketful of dinosaurs with a letter from Harry asking if we could look after them while he is on holiday. We have been busy reading some of the Harry and his Bucketful of Dinosaurs stories and put out a dinosaur land for them to stay in. The stories have given us even more ideas of things we can do about dinosaurs and we look forward to continuing with this theme next week.
Wow – time flies when you are having fun! P6 have worked hard all week on lots of different activities. We are almost ready to agree and launch our Class Charter.
Here we are highlighting the Articles we think are the most important for us in Primary 6. We wonder if you will agree!
In our reflection this week…
Laurie-Anne I loved creating our holiday news book!
Amy : I learned about different synonyms. I really enjoyed graffiting my wall!
Rachel: I’m looking forward to finishing my jigsaw puzzle that’s all about me.
Ciara: In Maths I liked using my problem-solving skills to solve the numbersearch.
Kalanah: I enjoyed the maths challenge – it was easy and hard!
What a great week!
One of the many topics we will discuss at our ‘Meet the Teacher’ Evening (10.9.15 at 7pm) is how to keep your child safe online. Children love using technology and are learning to navigate websites, online games and consoles, and touch screen technology like ipads and smartphones from a younger and younger age.
To help you understand the full extent of online safety I would urge you to read the document which has been uploaded to the Useful Documents Page.
This document gives links to 7 of the most valuable websites and will give parents sound advice on a range of topics including:
Cyberbullying, Parental Controls, Social Networking, Gaming, Online Grooming, Apps and keeping Safe Online.
www.childnet.com/parents-and-carers/need-help
This is an excellent source of information for all parents with clear strategies about how to deal with all of these safety issues for our children.
This week, P1a have been learning our first two sounds!!!
We learnt the ‘m’ and ‘c’ sound.
The ‘m’ sound is a red because we make it with our lips’ Fraser
The ‘c’ sound is yellow because your tongue scrapes the back of your mouth’ Charlie
This week, we have been going to play time with our buddies and playing with them!
‘I like playing with my buddy’ Jack.
In maths, we have learning about numbers to 4!!
Well done P1a !!!
A big welcome to all the new primary ones who have settled in really well already! When we walked along the corridor to hand in the register this morning Mrs Stewart and Mrs Ferguson couldn’t believe how quiet our line was – at first they thought we were primary six!! The highlight of the day was definitely meeting the buddies again and going outside to play with them at playtime. A big thank you goes to the P7 children who were super helpers when getting the primary ones organised for playtime. Today, Ben enjoyed playing in the willow tunnel, Abi enjoyed reading books in the library corner while Casey enjoyed listening to our story ‘The Paper Dolls’ by Julia Donaldson at story time. Well done everyone, enjoy the weekend before our busy week next week!
