LGBT+ History Month

The LGBT+ Group at Sandwick Junior High School have been busy celebrating LGBT History Month. Have a look at some of the things we got up too!

A display board was put together in the school that had famous people in history that were from the LGBT+ community. Teachers spoke about some of these famous people during classes if they were relevant to their subject. Along the bottom of the display is a timeline of historical events related to LGBT issues.

On Wednesday 23rd, staff pupils had the oppertunity to take a pledge to show their support to the LGBT Community by drawing round their hand, cutting it out and sticking it to our pledge poster.

And finally since we were not in school for Purple Friday, we held our celebration on the Thursday instead! Pupils were encouraged to wear purple to show their support to the LGBT community. There was also a number of temporary tattoos that young people could have.

Thank you to everyone who took part!
