Spooktacular Spelling!

Room 6 have been settling back in well after our week off for the October break. It has been lovely to share our news about what we got up to on our days off. We have worked so well coming back in and getting straight into our routines and learning.

This week we are concentrating on revising both our spelling and number work from last term and have been speaking about the word ‘consolidation’, which we know means to make our learning stronger through practise.

In Numeracy, we have looked at reinforcing our numbers to 100 by practising partitioning of 2-digit numbers, sequencing and ordering. We also used our number caterpillars to revise numbers that are before and after, as well as 10 more/less than a given number.

In spelling, we have been focussing on consolidating words containing the ‘ay’, ‘ea’ and ‘ow’ phonemes, as well as the Term 1 Common Words. To make this extra fun yesterday, we decided to practise our words using different active spelling strategies but did these inside the picture of a ghost. This got us into the spirit for our Halloween disco tonight, which we are really looking forward to. Have a look at our spooktacular spelling, we are so proud of the work we produced!

Have a great week everyone and enjoy the disco!
