Hello everyone!

This week in Room 11, we have been working very hard and have had lots of fun
with our new learning.

In literacy, we learnt the ‘ough’ sound as in thought. The class were great at
spotting the sound in their class and personal reading books. We introduced our
new 4 week persuasive writing block and began to look at the features of a
persuasive text. The class were fantastic at identifying points for and against
having a pet dog.

In numeracy, we have been practicing our recall of the times tables. Ask your
child a times table question. The class enjoyed working at different stations
completing various multiplication activities.

In PE, we have began a new block of football. The class worked hard to develop
their skills when dribbling the ball with control.

Last Thursday Room 11 had a wonderful day celebrating the 25th Anniversary of World Book Day. The class began the day by joining Rooms 10 and 12, to take part in a thirty minute Readathon. The children done so well with this and should be proud of themselves for staying focused for the full Readathon.

The children then used their imaginations to design a new book character. As a class we discussed how we would describe our new characters and brainstormed adjectives to describe their appearance, personality and feelings.

The class enjoyed taking time to share their favourite stories and tell the class about their favourite book characters. We loved listening to the stories that were shared with us by parents.

We ended the day by reading the story – The Invisible, written by author Tom Percival. We are are all so excited that we have been invited to take part in the audience of the Authors Live event this week at the BBC Studios!

I hope you all have a great week πŸ™‚
