To say that room 20 were excited this morning as we left for our first school trip in over 2 years, would be an understatement!
They had a fantastic day at Amazonia, learning more about some of the rainforest animals they’ve been studying in class. They were able to see some of the animals in real life and even handle a corn snake, cockroach and a stick insect. The weather stayed dry for us (bar the walk back to the bus!) and we managed to squeeze in a visit to the play area within Strathclyde Park too.
All the photos from the trip will be posted on Room 20’s Google Classroom but here’s a selection for everyone to see 😁
This week, room 20 were given a STEM challenge to create a ‘tower’ that represents the 4 layers of the rainforest. They had to work in pairs initially and then as a group of 8 to complete their challenge, using only the resources made available to them. Today they put the finishing touches to their towers and they’ll be pieced together next week. We’ve attached a few photos of the process but you’ll need to come along to the open afternoon/evening on Thursday 26th May (4-7pm) to see the finished towers! The class put a lot of effort into the challenge and their rainforest layers look fantastic 🤩
If you cannot make the open night, photos of the towers will be put onto Google classroom after the event 😊

Over the last 3 weeks, rooms 20 and 21 have joined forces on Wednesdays and taken part in P.E. together. We’ve been combining our volleyball knowledge and showing each other the skills we’ve previously learned. The weather this week has been fabulous so we took some snaps of our two classes having fun in mixed teams ☀ Its been so lovely seeing the two classes coming together that we may well team up again in term 4 😁
We’ve had a brilliant week taking part in lots of fun science lessons, organised by Miss Stark and our STEM leaders. We’ve had a look at animal anatomy – making skeleton outlines using cotton buds and chalk, studied the human skeleton – piecing together different bones to create large paper models and we’ve studied chemical reactions by mixing solute and solvents together to see which created effervescent reactions. It’s been lots of fun!
