The Ancient Egyptians

Room 13 are absolutely loving their topic so far. Here’s a quick glance at what we have been up to:
– We started off by locating Egypt on a map (well done Steven for spotting it) and pointing out key places.
– We worked in pairs to investigate photographs of ancient Egyptian artefacts, trying to figure out what each item was used for.
– Our local minister Ian has been in our class showing us real statues/figurines and even talking to us about mummification – YUCK!
– In maths we looked at the Ancient Egyptian number system and we learned how to write numbers in hieroglyphs.
– We have discussed as a class how our lives today are similar and different to life back in Ancient Egypt.
Fun fact: did you know…the Ancient Egyptians did not use money. Instead, they would trade one another for goods.
We can’t wait to learn how to write our names in hieroglyphics soon!
