This week we began our journey to writing our short stories to enter into the BBC 500 Word Story Competition.

To get an idea of what a good story looks like and what stories make it in to the final of this competition, the boys and girls read different short stories from past competitions. They then made notes about what made that story good, here’s what some pupils had to say.

“Lots of the stories had an interesting twist in them”

“Some of the stories were funny and had lots of comedy in them.”

“Even though I might not have enjoyed some of the stories I can tell that the vocabulary and descriptions used were good.”

We have also begun our World War II topic. We began by discussing the causes of the war before moving on to look at why is was named a World War. We used a world map to label which countries were on the Axis side and which were allies.
