FAOL – Transition – Warm and Cold

The Transition Class made an excellent job of using warm and cold colours to create these wonderful polar bear pictures.

Everyone was very engaged during this task and the results are so good that the pictures are being used as front covers for pupil folders!

Successful learners and effective contributors!

Snowman Themed Activities!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class have enjoyed a snow themed week of activities. We have played pair games with dice where they had a race to build a snowman. We also made hanging spiral snowman decorations and explored sparkling snow cloud dough. We were all brave enough to touch and explore this different texture.

We finished off our week with some fun in the soft play!

FAOL: Science – Ice Cream in a Bag

Successful Learners    Confident Individuals

The Moonbeams have had lots of fun learning with ice this week.

First for our science experiment, the children mixed some ingredients with milk and shook in a bag with another bag of ice and salt to create some delicious ice cream which they all enjoyed tasting.

Then carrying on with our ice theme, the children have been learning about Penguins as part of our Edinburgh Zoo theme. We learned that Penguins spend most of their time in the ice cold water and that they are able to cope with the cold temperatures as they are well insulated with layers of fat.

The Moonbeams dipped their hands in the ice cold water and decided it was very cold. They then dipped their hands in the water again but this time they  were covered in lard. The children were able to say that it did not feel as cold.

Children in Need

The Asteroids class have enjoyed learning about Pudsey Bear and Children in Need.

The boys enjoyed coming to school dressed in their Children in Need t-shirts, pyjamas or casual clothes. They painted their very own Pudsey Bears with moveable arms and legs and decorated cupcakes with bright yellow icing and colourful spots. They enjoyed listening to a story with Mr Tumble and of course, Pudsey too.

Here are some photos from our day:

Confident Individuals – Pudsey Day

The Transition class took part in Children In Need day on Friday. They were all Confident Individuals taking part in a variety of tasks. We all shared what makes us special to make a Pudsey display, tried to throw the spot onto Pudsey’s bandage and took part in an outdoor Pudsey hunt. Well done everyone!

Children in Need

*Effective Contributors       *Responsible Citizens

We have participated in loads of fun activities for Children in Need. We have made Pudsey ears and a mask as well as a playdoh Pudsey. We have had a duck race, iced Pudsey cakes and enjoyed spotty sensory activities. We thought Children in Need day was a good way to collect money to help other children.

Effective Contributors – Christmas Craft

Whilst some of the class were out on community travel, those left behind continued the Christmas display work. They were Effective Contributors when they all worked together making snowy backgrounds, white wooden snowman heads and decorated Christmas trees. They were using fake snow which even got hoovered up to ensure the class was alltidy and presentable.
