Christmas Crafts

We had lots of fun applying our home economics skills to make some salt dough ornaments.

We added ingredients to the bowl, stirred them together and rolled out the dough. We also chose our favourite shaped cutter to press into the dough.

Christmas Art – Family Reindeer

We made reindeer family stone frames for a gift to take home and surprise our families.  Confident individuals all round when making these frames.  Everyone had a strong opinion about the stones they wanted used for their family, who they wanted in their family frame and even the position / order of their stone family.

Christmas Science

The Transition boys were Successful Learners this week when they used their numeracy skills to complete some Christmas science tasks. The boys looked at snow formation and made some fake snow. They carefully measured the correct mass of ‘snow’ powder then the correct volume of water. Everyone was amazed when the snow fluffed up before their eyes.

In their second task the boys were challenged to create the tallest Christmas Tree using play-doh. The boys had to balance height and width to make sure that it would stand before it was measured. The tallest one (without banned structural support) was 27cm

Getting ready for Christmas

We’ve been working hard getting the classroom ready for Christmas over the last few days. We have put up our tree and decorated it, made our own stockings to hang up, listened to lots of Christmas music and even put the nativity story in the right order. Its been lot of fun!

50 Things Outdoors – Go for a walk

We enjoyed a nice cold walk this week to the Kay Park, Cameron could tell us the ‘Pond has froze’ so we watched some ducks enjoy an ice skating session.

We were responsible citizen when crossing the road on our way to the park.

We had a few bird poo incidents thanks to the bridge across the pond, so several of us needed a clean up – including Miss Miller’s face and jumper.

50 Things Outdoors – Rain

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Bluebells class participated in one of our 50 Things Outdoor challenges today. We took the opportunity of a rainy day and experienced a rainstorm whilst being appropriately dressed for the weather. We raided the used and found box for a selection of wellies and went to a nearby postbox and sent our Santa letters. We all loved being outside in the rain and jumping in the puddles!

Elfie arrives in the Bluebells Class!

* CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Bluebells class had a surprise visit from Elfie this week. He arrived with a letter from the North Pole saying that he was Santa’s friend and was here watching for kindness in the Bluebells classroom. Of course Elfie has witnessed this lots already this week 🙂

Unfortunately, Elfie has had to learn about following the school rules as this week he has been stealing our snacks and he also hid some of our furniture!!!
