Successful Learners – Individual Literacy

The Transition class worked hard on their literacy skills this week and were all Successful Learners.  Some boys wrote about their weekend, others looked at emotions in texts whilst a group looked at recognising themes in documentaries.  A couple of boys were selecting pictures to add text to which led to everyone joining in looking at old pictures!

FAOL – Science

LAVA LAMPS

All the pupils were able to help fill a bottle a quarter of the way with water. Most pupils were able to carefully add vegetable oil to the bottle and some  pupils were able to use a dropper to add some food colouring to the mix. It was lots of fun seeing the reaction it made and watching the movements within the bottle.

Digital Technology week

This week we were using different digital technologies. The children are confident individuals at using the SMARTboard at morning group. They are able to use the pen to overwrite their name and some can even use the tools at the side to change the colour independently. We used the Beebots this week and the children loved exploring them. They were able to push the arrow buttons in a sequence to make the Beebot move a specific way. Some were even able to remember to press the cross before starting a new sequence. They loved that the Beebots had a light so we explored them in the dark too.

We used the SMARTboard to play lots of different games to. Everyone really enjoyed the shape game. We had to feed the correct shape to the correct shape monster. They were successful learners and able to use their finger to drag the shape to the mouth of the shape monster. We also played literacy games finding the beginning letter of CVC words.

We also had lots of fun with a noise activated spider. We had to make a noise to get the spider to move the louder the noise the faster it moved around the floor. We were confident individuals working on using our voice to make loud noises.

Sungazers FAOL – Science in Class – Slime

The Sungazers Class love science and have all participated in various science activities over the term, making lava lamps, volcanoes, sensory snow, and slime. Their favourite experiment is making the cornflour slime as not only is it a good sensory science activity, it’s also good messy fun!

The boys are now able to follow the steps and make their own slime with minimal assistance.
