Successful Learners – SQA Numeracy

There was lots of great numeracy skills on show this week when the class worked hard on their pictogram SQA work. The class were Successful Learners when they created pictograms from data collected in class choosing favorite colours and matching eye colour. They also interpreted ready-made pictograms by translating the graph into building blocks before looking at the highest and smallest and relating that to the favorite and least favorite. Some very hard work completed – well done!

Scottish Activities Morning – IDL – HWB

*Confident Individuals    *Effective Contributors

We enjoyed a Scottish activities morning in class where we recited Robert Burn’s Selkirk Grace before our snack of pancakes. We used rhythm sticks to tap out the rhythm of ‘Donald Whaur’s Yer Troosers’ and danced the St Bernard’s Waltz. We played boccia with tatties, instead of balls, and had fun welly whanging where we hurled wellies at a target. We played the Hokey Cokey my putting ‘oor richt airm in’ and sang Scottish children’s songs.

We played hopscotch in the garden and created a Robert Burns silhouette picture.

Successful Learners – Community Travel

The second half of the Transition class had their chance to work on photo route cards this week. They were Successful Learners following last weeks’ photo route to find marked stones. They then set their own trail, learning how to make a route for others to follow. This is a skill that they will put in to practice when they compete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition.

IDL – Numeracy

This week we went on a treasure hunt looking for theme pictures. Our theme is Katie Morag and we were looking for pictures of the characters and places from the stories. We went to the garden to see if we could find any. We were confident individuals exploring the garden to find all the pictures that were hidden.  Some of the pictures were big and some were small making them tricky to find. We had to look high and low to find all the pictures around the garden.
