FAOL – ECO/Sustainable Development – Zero Hunger

*Responsible Citizens        *Effective Contributors

We watched power points and discussed reasons why people might be hungry and needed to use Food Banks. We made a poster showing reasons which included poor crop yields due to pollution and drought. We did a science experiment where we grew two trays of cress, one watered by ordinary tap water and the other watered with a water and lemon juice mix which depicted acid rain. The seeds watered with acid rain developed poorly which showed how pollution can effect crop growth for farmers.

IDL The Post Office

The Bluebells enjoyed listening to the story Katie Morag Delivers the mail. We enjoyed some post office role play posting letters and sorting 3D parcels by their shape. Some of us were able to guess what might be in the parcel through looking and feeling it’s shape.

IDL – Social Studies

We have been exploring different jobs people may have. When reading the stories we have been exploring the jobs people have on the island. We were confident individuals and completed jigsaws matching people in their work uniform. We had to pick the correct head, body and legs to create a whole person. We also dressed up and were effective contributors and completed some jobs in the classroom. Some pupils had hi-vis vests on and put rubbish in the bin pretending to be bin men. We pretended to have a train the class and boarded the train to take us to the shop where we decided what we wanted to buy. We also dressed up and pretended to go to see the doctor and she used the phone to talk to her patients.
