Music: Producing a Sound – Term 3

*Confident Individuals*                        *Successful Learners*

We have started to explore musical notation in the Beech class during our music sessions.  We can identify a stave and can match some of the notes on a stave to the letter it represents.  We have even learned an acronym to help us learn the order of the note letters!

Today we were set a challenge to identify the letters of the blank music notes on a set of staves and then play the notes to identify the mystery tune!

Alysse was the first pupil to guess the correct tune by listening to the sound of the notes played all together!

Digital Week in the Stars

*Successful Learners

We had a good week using many types of digital technology. We used the I Pad to take directed photographs in the garden and played many games and activities on the Promethean Board. We talked about many changes in technology, made tasty smoothies using a switch and watched a story using a QR code. We had fun using beebots with Miss Smith and making a telephone from paper cups and string (it really worked!) and compared it with today’s handsets and mobiles. Gaming safety was discussed and not to share information. We used technology to cross the road on our outing when we used the pelican crossing.

Digital Learning Week

We have enjoyed exploring and experimenting with different technologies this week.

We were very responsible when finding out ways to be safe when using the internet on technologies. We listened to a story about Buddy the Dog and how he helped his friend, Ben, make good choices when using the Internet. We made our own poster on how to be safe using the internet.

We explored using QR codes too. It was fun scanning the code and waiting to see what would happen. The codes took us to songs and stories, which we enjoyed.

During our topic time, we tried some Pirate coding. We used coding to find different items on a treasure map.

We also made our own mobile phone and chose apps to add. Some of us wrote text messages to people at home.

It was fun exploring different types of technology and the boys were brave trying out new things.

Well done, Asteroids!

The Sunflowers have all took part in digital learning week by using our SMARTboard to engage in interactive games and enjoy songs.  Each child took part in literacy or numeracy games during their hard work time and enjoyed combining sounds, visuals and songs to enhance learning.  Everyone also loved playing on our glow pad and used it to practice writing and drawing. We love all the changing colours!

Digital Learning with the Daisies Class!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies Class enjoyed celebrating Digital Learning week in school. We completed an internet research task where we had to find dinosaur facts. We searched for photographs of the dinosaur with the loudest roar, the sharpest teeth, the dinosaur with the longest tail etc. We also enjoyed visiting the school printer to collect our research.

We used the SMARTboard as a visual timer and timed ourselves to see how long it took us to rescue our trapped dinosaurs. We had to use our fine motor skills to get the elastic bands off of the dinosaur.

We completed a class pictograph voting on our favourite type of dinosaur. The Tyrannosaurus rex was the overall favourite.

Finally, we filled in the blanks using picture symbols to create our own dinosaur story. We read our stories out to our friends and used our descriptions to design a dinosaur on the SMARTboard.

A digital hello from the Pine Room

This week for Science and ECO we were responsible citizens and made hanging bird feeders for our feathered friends, we mixed the special bird seed and lard together, then pressed it into cups to mould them. We are just waiting for a nice day to get outside and hang them up.

Join us for a game of dominoes?

We love dominoes in the Pine Room – a great way to do numeracy.

Literacy and Art we have been working on the letter ‘T’ and made some stripey Tiger pictures, below are a couple of links to some ‘T’ activities.

The Letter T Song

The Tiger that came to Tea.
