Maths Week Scotland Challenge

This week is Maths Week Scotland and to coincide with this we’re launching the use of our brand new maths resource, Heinemann Active Maths!

Active Maths proivdes our pupils with a range of activities and challenges to help develop their mathematical thinking and numeracy skills. There are board games and resources to use in class and online games to play at home.

Whole School Challenge –  To launch this resource we’re setting some classes a challenge to access at least one Heinemann Active Maths game which their teacher will have set the class. Pupils should log in to their Bug Club / Active Learn account to access any of the maths games allocated.

Enjoy playing the games – we’d love to hear what you think about our new resource.

Parent Council Meeting

We need you!

The next meeting of the Parent Council is on Monday 17th September at 7pm in the school staff room.  It will include the AGM.  If you are interested in coming along for the first time to see what it’s all about you will be made very welcome. It is a friendly group and a great way to learn more about what goes on in the school.

If you can’t make the meeting but would like to help out please contact the school.

Primary 5 – Homework Information

As part of Maths Week all Primary 5 pupils have been assigned some Active Maths games.  These games aim to reinforce pupils’ knowledge of whole numbers and rounding to 10 and 100.  Please use your Bug Club login details to access these games.

For spelling pupils have once again been given a sheet where the focus is 3 phonemes that we have been exploring in class.  New this week – Chilli Challenge! Pick the follow up task you think you can handle.  Complete this challenge in your new homework jotter.

All work is to be completed and handed in on Friday.

Thank you! 🙂

Sharing Information: Classroom Visits

Dear Parent / Carer,

Sharing Information: Classroom Visits

The children have now settled in their new classes and we would like to offer you the opportunity to visit your child’s classroom and meet their teacher(s) in the school hall.

Primary 1 Parents

You are invited to an information session on Monday 17 September from 1.15pm until 1.45pm to meet the teachers and receive information about your child’s learning in P1. If you have a child/ren in another area of the school you will be able to go to their class at 2.00 pm.

Primary 2 – Primary 7 Parents

I am sure you will find this a worthwhile experience which will provide you with information on the learning through displays. It will also give you an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher(s).

There will be the formal parents’ meetings on Tuesday 9 October 2018 when you will have an individual meeting with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress and areas for development.

The open afternoon for P2 to P7 classes will take place on Monday 17 September from 2.00 pm. Please come to the school reception and you will be escorted to the relevant area of the school.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs A Wright, Mrs G Findlay and Mr D McIlwraith
