Ayrshire College – Cooking Programme – SIGN UP NOW!

Families,

Our partnership with Ayrshire College continues to grow and as we kick start session 22/23 we are excited to add more sugar and spice for our community.

We now need YOUR HELP to shape the opportunities.

The College are planning a 6-8 week early evening, budget cooking training course where parents/carers can cook in a professional kitchen environment and learn from chefs/student developing cooking skills for the full family. Families will take their meals home, as well as the recipes and boxes of ingredients.

But what will your children do?

Panic not, the sport staff/students will take your children for the duration of the session and lead active, fitness activities.

This sounds great, but what is the price? TOTALLY FREE!

Meet The Teacher – Wed 7th Sept

We would like to offer you an opportunity to come into school to meet your child’s teacher and to hear some important information about the class. Please come along to school at the following times:  Primary 1    from 2.00pm – 2.45pm Primary 2    from 9:45am – 10.30am Primary 3    from 2:00m – 2:45pm Primary 4    from 1.45pm – 2.30pm Primary 5    from 9.30am – 10.15am Primary 6    from 11.15am – 12.00pm Primary 7    from 11.00am – 11.45am Centre         from 9.30am – 10.15am  There will be tea/coffee available in the main hall during the day along with stalls from Bikers As Friends, Parent Council and other partners! ‘Naming of the Hens’ Community Competition – WE NEED YOU!

Families,

We are delighted to proudly introduce to you, the newest members of #OurOnthank Community – our 5 wonderful hens!

As part of our Food for Thought/Outdoor Learning initiative, our whole school community will have the opportunity to meet our hens and participate in related active learning experiences. We have already had some healthy eggs that we plan to offer to friends within the community.

However, our hens have yet to be named, so we need your help!

Our Pupil Council, Mrs Andrew & Mr Stewart will vote and our winning names will be announced on Fri 2 Sept.

‘From Movies to Musicals’ – Palace Theatre PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY! GET INVOLVED!

CALLING #OURONTHANK P5/P6/P7 STARS!

Dear Families,

It is with great excitement we share, Onthank Primary have been invited to perform in ‘Movies to Musicals’ at The Palace Theatre Kilmarnock.

Please see event information:

Date: Saturday 17 September (September Weekend) 

Time: 2.30pm (approx 5pm finish)

Venue: The Palace Theatre, Kilmarnock – 9 Green Street, Kilmarnock, KA1 3BN. 

Staff Chaperones: Steven Swan & Onthank School Staff

 

The company include performers who have appeared on Britain’s Got Talent!!

 

If your child would like to join #OurOnthank Ambassadors Company your child must be available to attend at least 5/6 of the following after school rehearsals with Mr Swan:

Mon 29 Aug 3pm – 4pm 

Wed 31 Aug 3pm – 4pm

Mon 5 Sept 3pm – 4.15pm 

Wed 7 Sept 3pm – 4.15pm 

Wed 14 Sept 3pm – 4.15pm 

Fri 16 Sept TIME TBC (Sept School Holiday)

All the staff can’t wait to see you on Thursday morning!  I hope you have all had  a great summer a well earned rest with your families.

We hope you find the following information useful in preparation for our return on Thursday.  

 

Arrival from Thursday 18 August 2022 

  • Our entry doors and gates continue to be colour coded/labelled and your child’s class should enter the door and playground area noted below at the allocated time.  
  • P1-P2 parents/carers can walk their child to their line at the back of the school before exiting the playground to avoid congestion.  
  • P3-P7 parents/carers are asked to encourage your child to be an ‘independent walker’ and allow your child to arrive at their gate and enter the playground without you. Alternatively, drop your child off at their entry gate and please do not enter the playground.  

Parents/carers are encouraged to leave once their child is safely in the playground supervised by staff.  

  • Collection at the end of the day will operate as arrival procedures with all pupils being escorted by the class teacher to the parent/carer. 

Entry & Exit Times for NEW PRIMARY 1 Pupils for Thursday 18 August ONLY 

On the first day, to allow parents/carers/relatives to be part of your child’s ‘First Day at School’ we are having staggered start times to allow photographs and to avoid congestion.

P1K Mrs Klein’s Class: 9.45am – 2.45pm
