Remembrance Day

Gargieston had the honour of being represented in the annual Remembrance Day parade at the Cenotaph this morning.

Freya Lee, who impressed visitors from The Royal Legion at an assembly recently with her fundraising, was invited to join them and lay a wreath on behalf of East Ayrshire Schools.

Thank you so much to Freya for representing Gargieston so well, in what was a very emotional service. She wrote a very fitting message on the card from everyone in the school.

It was also lovely to see so many other Gargieston children in the parade with their organisations.

Swimming Gala

Well done to everyone in our swimming team who competed at The Citadel in Ayr today. They all represented the school so well and a special mention to the boys’ relay team who came 4th in their event. We’re so proud of you all!

Make & Taste Sessions

Thanks to all who attended our Make & Taste Sessions today. I hope you all enjoyed making our healthy food caterpillars!

Sheets will be up in cloakroom tomorrow for next weeks fruity pancakes 😀 (First come first served basis).

If you attended today, please bring along your booklet next week!

Scottish Schools Badminton Championships

We were so proud of Primary 6 pupils, Dominic Patton and Kallum Tang this week. They represented the school in Wishaw on Saturday in the Under 12s category  and came out winners!

Huge congratulations to them on their success and for representing the school in their weekend.

P6 Lunch Run

Over 3km. Well done!!

Cross Country

This term we entered an upper primary team in the Cross Country Championships at the Ayrshire Athletics Arena.

The children represented the school so well and we were particularly proud of the encouragement they gave each other as they ran.

With over 20 East Ayrshire schools participating it was a major achievement for Jamie Work to win the gold medal and Cameron McGarey the silver in the P7 boys event and Glen Cunningham to win gold in the P6 boys.

We can tell by the photographs that everyone had a great day!

Cricket After School Club

Following on from our successful cricketing year last session, we are delighted to say that Mark Colman from Kilmarnock Cricket Club is returning to start his popular after-school club.

It will be held onTuesdays from 3.20pm to 4.20pm starting on Tuesday 12th November for a 4 week block. This will be aimed at Primary 5 and 6 with priority going to P6 pupils. Depending on the weather it may be held outdoors or indoors, so children should be prepared for both. Boys and girls will be made most welcome and pupils who have been allocated a space will be contacted.

Remembrance Parade

Following a visit from the Kilmarnock branch of the Royal Legion, Freya Lee will be laying a wreath on behalf of the school at Sunday’s remembrance parade. The Legion would also like to invite children and their families from upper school to join the parade to mark this special occasion.

If you are able to join the parade, you are asked to meet at 10.20am in front of the former Kilmarnock Academy entrance on Elmbank Drive. It would be lovely to see the school well represented.

Please use the drop down below for us to gauge numbers.
