The children really enjoyed sharing their learning experiences with me and each other with a drink of juice and a biscuit this morning 😊
Congratulations, Sam!
Huge congratulations to Sam McCallum in Primary 7! After the regional qualifiers in Ayr during November, his superb time for 50m Freestyle means he has qualified for the Scottish Schools Championships later this month. He will be representing Gargieston at Tollcross in Glasgow on the 26th January.
Good luck, Sam and enjoy every minute of the day!
ECC – Communication Board
Our nursery rhyme of the month for January is Jack and Jill. Please take a little time to sing this with your child and practise the Makaton signs too. The staff track and record the progress of the nursery rhyme so it is important to practise when you can.
Also included in this blog post are some useful information posters to help promote your child’s communication skills and the top tip for January from the SALT team. These are also displayed on the communication board in the cloakroom of the nursery.
Should you have any concerns regarding your child’s speech and language development please speak to their key worker, Mrs Cotton (the communication champion) or you can contact the SALT directly on the hot line. You will find their number on our communication board.

If you wish to order any items, please complete the form and return it to school with payment ( cheque or cash only ) in a sealed envelope with pupils details on the front.
Orders will be collected Thursday 24th January.
Thank you.

Thank you.
Tesco Bags of Help Initiative
We are excited to announce that The Parent Council of Gargieston Primary School & ECC have been selected to participate in Tesco’s Bags of Help Fundraising Initiative!
VOTING IS NOW OPEN IN BOTH KILMARNOCK STORES!!
This is such an exciting opportunity for our fantastic school to secure funding from Tesco which will allow us to purchase a fitness trail for our playground with monkey bars, tyre swings and lots more. There are three very deserving projects in the running:- Gargieston PS & ECC, Kilmarnock Acrobatics Club and Bonnyton Thistle Football Club. All three projects will receive a cash boost, with the winning project receiving £4000, 2nd place £2000 and 3rd place £1000. We would like to encourage as much support as possible amongst family and friends of the school and ask that whenever you shop in Tesco you post your blue coin into our slot. You do not need to purchase a plastic bag to pick up a token – just ask for one whenever you shop.
We are going to need everyone to get behind our school as we’re sure it will be very competitive and the more money we are awarded, the better our fitness trail will be for our children! Voting in stores takes place from 1st January – 28th February 2019.
We will provide an update at the next parent council meeting, but so far can advise that the contract for the project has been awarded to Scot Play. The design will be finalised over the next few weeks with the plan for fitting of the Trim Trail to take place around Easter 2019.
Many thanks in anticipation of your support!
