Orienteering is BACK!

Gargieston Primary has traditionally taken part in the Ayrshire and Scottish orienteering festivals over a number of years and have competed to a high level.  This of course was down to the dedication and enthusiasm of Ms Harvey.  Mr Smith and myself (Mrs Mackie) would love to keep this tradition alive and are hoping to get as many children to attend these events as possible.    Every year there are evening training events run by AYROC, giving the children experience of an orienteering course.  Here is the information:

All events start at 6.00 pm. Cost £2 per child.

Club coaches available to give help and advice.

Suitable for children from Primary 4 to 6th year Senior.

We ask that children in Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7, if they haven’t tried it before attend at least 3 out of the 4 events.  If they have competed before attend at least 2 of the events please.

P4A Fair Trade

Primary 4A had great fun working together learning all about Fair Trade during Global Citizenship week.  We linked this to articles in RRS using our UN Convention on the Rights of the Child posters.

 

Help!

We are looking for some help from anyone who owns a van and can help with the uplift of some heavy items.

Assembly Certificate Winners

At Friday’s assembly, lots of awards were given out. Following their participation in the Euroquiz competition, certificates were awarded to the P6 team:- Adam Doig, Fraser Allison, Calum Stewart and Amy Tickner.                            P1-3 Maths awards were given to:- Noah Ryan, Emily Hyslop, Liam Kelly, Anna Reid,Harvey Dow, Noah Errici,                                                                                                     P4-7 Starwriters were:- Chloe Meechan, Adam Dyet, Harry Thomson,  Lauren Houston, Jess Urquhart and Holly Cowley.                                                                       Well done to you all!

Well done to this weeks Star of the Week winners for always using their walking feet 😀

Primary 3 Cars Activity

15.03.18 Model Cars – Both Primary 3 classes will be creating their model cars next week in class on Tuesday the 20th and Wednesday the 21st March. We need children to bring in empty shoe boxes with detachable lids only. Unfortunately the ones with the lids attached do not work for this activity. We are also looking for parent helpers on Tuesday at 9.30am – 10.30am and on Wednesday at 11am – 12.30pm. If you can help then please pop a note in the yellow book to let us know.

New Head Teacher

Following an e-mail this morning, I am now able to confirm that Mrs. Julie McKee, currently Acting Head Teacher at Heathery Knowe Primary School in East Kilbride, is confirmed as the new Head Teacher at Gargieston Primary and Early Childhood Centre. P3A Class Assembly

P3A invite parents/carers to their class assembly on Friday 16th March  where they will share their learning about the Amazon Rainforest.

The assembly starts at 9.50am. 

Please arrive no earlier than 9.45am as a class are using the Gym Hall beforehand.
