Rights Respecting Schools Group

Last week the Rights Respecting School group went on an Environmental Walk up the pathways towards Mount House. On the walk we saw nature at its best, spring flowers, squirrels, beautiful trees, a lovely memorial bench and the beautiful building of Mount House. However, we also saw litter, including glass, graffiti and evidence of vermin which was a big concern to the children who were keen to do something about this.                                                                As  a result, the older pupils have both phoned and written an e-mail to Environmental Health and some councillors within East Ayrshire Council outlining their feelings and concerns.                                                   I am so proud of their determination to make our local environment a safer, cleaner place.                                                                                                       We look forward to a reply!!

ECC Intergenerational Award

The ECC have received another award. We were recognised by generations working together for our continuing developing practice with Springhill care home and Howard House care homes. We were awarded a certificate of merit for Most innovative project. Well done to all staff in the ECC for contributing to the continued improvement of the intergenerational project.

ECC Thank you

The ECC would like to thank The Cobble Shop for their very kind donations of

  • a tractor tyre filled with bark.
  • Pink sand for both indoor and outdoor play
  • Astro grass for flooring in our loose parts play space and for imaginative small world play area
  • selection of large pebbles and small stones to be creative with and explore

These donations will provide fun learning experiences both indoors and outdoors for our children at Gargieston ECC to develop their learning.

Also a big thank you to Lindsay Anne Robertson who kindly organised this donation and delivered it to us. 🙂

ECC Sharing our learning

Mrs Hendrie in the ECC will be holding a Sharing our learning session on Tuesday 24th March. All ECC parents are welcome to come along and listen to how we use floorbooks in the ECC to find out what children would like to learn and how we provide learning experiences which meets the curriculum for excellence outcomes. Mrs Hendrie will be demonstrating how we are beginning to incorporate QR codes into our floorbooks and encouraging parent’s to make comments and suggestions to improve how we plan, implement and evaluate your children’s learning in our ECC. There will be a sharing our learning session at 9.15am and again at 1.00pm. If you would like to join any of these sessions please complete the form below.

Thank you. Look forward to seeing you all there 🙂

Cyber Safe

We are keen to support parents to ensure all young people are Cyber safe, especially with the growing use of a wide range of Apps and online forms of communication (WhatsApp/TikTok/Instagram/Snapchat etc). As part of our continued commitment, we are delighted to promote our new ‘Safer Schools’ App. This App is a reliable source of advice on all things Cyber. It gives empowering, current and informative information on all current digital platforms/tools/apps in an accessible manner. We have a range of tailored user accesses (pupil, staff and parents/carers). To access your parent platform please:
-Go to your app store or Google Play and search for ‘Safer School’
-In school field type ‘East Ayrshire Council’
-The code for primary parents is: 7440
We would recommend that you discuss with your child about which apps and social media platforms they currently use/access. This will help ensure they know how to stay safe online – using the app to start these types of conversations is great.
