A Date For Your Diary…

On Wednesday 16th January at 7pm, Pauline Moriarty, founder of local Scottish Registered charity ‘Beautiful Inside & Out’ (Scio) shall deliver an outline of the background, aims and services of the charity, with discussion of ways in which all adults can promote positive mental health in our young people.

The school has strong links with the charity and would urge parents to come along and listen to Pauline talk about her personal journey and the development of the charity – its services were even praised by Theresa May during PM Question Time recently.

Please complete the drop down below if you plan to attend.

Thank you.

Our children in the ECC and Primary 1 are going to be becoming very familiar with this bright and colourful character over the next few weeks.  If we are very good, he may even come to visit us with Nan and Betty McCoo too.

The staff have been working hard to prepare some fantastic and creative learning experiences for the children with a focus on literacy but also covering a wide range of other curricular areas.  We are looking forward to welcoming Shirley Husband, the author of the McCoo books, to introduce our topic to the children on Tuesday morning.

Tea with Mrs McKee

The children really enjoyed sharing their learning experiences with me and each other with a drink of juice and a biscuit this morning 😊

Congratulations, Sam!

Huge congratulations to Sam McCallum in Primary 7! After the regional qualifiers in Ayr during November, his superb time for 50m Freestyle means he has qualified for the Scottish Schools Championships later this month. He will be representing Gargieston at Tollcross in Glasgow on the 26th January.

Good luck, Sam and enjoy every minute of the day!

ECC – Communication Board

Our nursery rhyme of the month for January is Jack and Jill. Please take a little time to sing this with your child and practise the Makaton signs too.  The staff track and record the progress of the nursery rhyme so it is important to practise when you can.

Also included in this blog post are some useful information posters to help promote your child’s communication skills and the top tip for January from the SALT team. These are also displayed on the communication board in the cloakroom of the nursery.

Should you have any concerns regarding your child’s speech and language development please speak to their key worker, Mrs Cotton (the communication champion) or you can contact the SALT directly on the hot line. You will find their number on our communication board.

P7 Burns Supper

The Primary 7 Burns Supper will take place on

Tuesday 29th January at 7pm

They have already started practising their poems and two adults per child are invited to come along and enjoy the night.

Oral Health Orders

Oral health order forms will be going home with pupils over the next few days .

This gives parents and carers an opportunity to purchase oral health items at reduced prices.

If you wish to order any items, please complete the form and return it to school with payment ( cheque or cash only ) in a sealed envelope with pupils details on the front.

Orders will be collected Thursday 24th January.

Thank you.
