Pupils from Strone Primary School performed their Christmas Show ‘ Away with the Manger’ to a full house of parents, families and friends from the local community on Wednesday 14th December.
A nativity tale with a comic twist, ‘Away with the Manger’ gave the children a chance to show off their acting and singing talent, with some great comedy moments, which had the audience crying with laughter.

Clachan Primary Present; Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat
On Monday the 19th of December, Clachan Primary School presented a fabulous performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. The children all sang beautifully, certainly a show to remember! The well-known tunes by Andrew Lloyd Webber were enjoyed by everyone. It was lovely to see such a great turnout. The audience joined us for tea and our homemade mince pies after the show. Everyone went home singing their favourite tunes!

‘Twelve days of Christmas’ to Malawi
The P5 Pupils of Rhu Primary brought the ‘Twelve days of Christmas’ to Malawi.
Through their script writing, puppet making and puppet show performances they raised over £500 for the Nora Docherty School. At the end of term service the school will perform the song the Twelve days of Christmas with new words telling of the equipment sent. Happy Christmas Malawi!
World War Two Tea Dance at Rhu Primary School
To mark the end of their World War 1 and 2 studies Primary 7 pupils celebrated in style with a 1945 inspired Tea Dance. As well as baking delicious ‘Anzac’ biscuits the pupils delved into their ration books and had sufficient coupons to make ‘carrot cookies’. Throughout the term the children have been learning how to jive and completed the day by sharing their newly acquired dance skills with their parents.
Tartan Tea Dance at Rhu Primary
On Friday 9th December, Primary 1 & 2 of Rhu Primary hosted a Tartan Tea Dance to celebrate their learning from their Scottish topic. The boys and girls danced traditional Scottish dances such as ‘The Canadian Barn Dance’ and ‘The Rhu Gordons’ and then invited their parents up to dance. They also sang Scottish themed songs, such as ‘Ya Cannae Shove Yer Granny Off A Bus’, ‘Katie Bairdie’ and ‘3 Craws’.
“Aladdin Trouble” at Strath of Appin Primary School
Children from the Pre 5 Unit and pupils of Strath of Appin Primary school put on a splendid production of “Aladdin Trouble” to a packed, appreciative audience in Appin Village Hall. The children had great fun learning and performing their panto.

Hansel and Gretel at Colgrain Pre-5 Unit
On Thursday 15th December, Colgrain Pre-5 Unit entertained their families and friends with their Hansel and Gretel sing-along. The talented boys and girls played a variety of instruments to accompany each song. Following the story they also shared a French song called Père Noël, Away in a Manger, Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Mummies and Daddies had tea, coffee and a taste of the wonderful gingerbread stars made by the children. The show was enjoyed by all – especially the boys and girls!

Hostel Factor 2016
The Hostel Factor 2016 was held on 29th November, to a packed audience of parents and staff. The show started with Junior Presenter, Cameron, a terrific witty and explosive introduction to the show and St Andrews Night. Our own Ant & Dec presenters, Brandon & Josh super smart double act put the judges and acts through their paces with their witty and entertaining presenting skills.

The children of Castlehill Primary school enjoyed a super performance by West Midlands Children’s Theatre Company on Friday 4th November. The Legend of the Golden Dragon had the children in suspense and Jamie and Rachel took part in the performance and played their parts brilliantly.

Spooky Goings on at Rockfield Primary!
Rockfield Primary School PTA held two Hallowe’en discos on Thursday 27th October 2016. The pupils were wearing wonderful costumes and had made a huge effort in order to celebrate Hallowe’en! Some of the staff joined in too and were even scarier than usual! Many thanks go to the PTA and the staff for decorating the hall and organising the games, which ensured that the night was a great success!

Marching Back to School in Style
Pupils at Kilcreggan Primary had a warm welcome back to school at the start of term. Piper Harvey Ferguson piped the pupils into school on the first day back. Primary Seven pupils led the children and staff into the building while parents watched . Primary 1 pupils were the last to enter giving parents big smiles and cheerful waves as they went.
Dunoon Primary End Of Term Prizegiving!
Dunoon Primary held their prizegiving ceremony today at St John’s Church. The church was full of proud parents as the trophies were distributed to the pupils. The choir sang two songs to a delighted audience. Mrs Stewart gave her address speech to the crowd and spoke of the school year and all our fantastic achievements. The PTA gave out calculators and framed pictures of the P7 leavers dance and Mr Taylor of the Rotary Club gave out dictionaries to all the P7 pupils.

Dunoon Primary School PTA – Street Picnic
On Sunday 12th July, the members of Dunoon Primary’s PTA organised a fantastic street picnic to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. We set up in the school’s dining hall as the forecast wasn’t great but thankfully we were still able to enjoy activities in the playground too. The local fire engine and crew came along and lots of children enjoyed climbing aboard and wearing the very heavy helmet. Greg Girard coached children of all ages in his football skills workshops.
Sunny Sports for Rockfield!
Rockfield Primary held a very successful sports day, at Mossfield Stadium, for the whole school. The day consisted of both competitive races and clan activities. The day was started by Oban High School Pipe Band providing wonderful music for us to march around the pitch to, big thanks to all involved! The pupils marched in clans and then had a fabulous warm up which was provided by David MacArthur and senior pupils from Oban High School.
