Primary 2 Home Learning 13.8.20

Hello Everyone,

It was lovely to see you all yesterday and great to have you back. As you’re at home today, we discussed some home learning activities for you to complete.

  • Watch the story of ‘The Colour Monster’
  • Draw yourself using the feeling colours described in the story. If you wish you could choose 2 of the colours/feelings and write about what makes you feel these.
  • Play Helicopter Rescue

Practise finding a number in an appropriate range for your child.

  • Complete ‘Things you are looking forward to..’ worksheet using pictures or writing. We will share these in class on Friday morning.

We hope you have a good day and we are looking forward to seeing you on Friday. Remember we have Freetime Friday but please do not bring any toys from home – we will supply these in school.

Thank you for your continuing support,

Mrs Oliver and Miss Rafferty

Primary 2 – 3.4.20

Happy Friday Everyone!

We hope that you are well and can see many of you have had a very busy week. Thank you so much for the messages and photographs that you have posted on here and Learner’s Journal. We have displayed some of the activities you have been completing below:

This morning we would normally do a short phonics test – why don’t you ask someone to read out your words and you could write them in chalk or  a paintbrush and water outside.

On a Friday we sometimes take time to watch Newsround during milk and story :

At the bottom of this page there are some ideas of how people are showing their thanks to the people working for the NHS. Have a look out for the field! There is also a section at the bottom to send your own message.

This a short day today and we are sure you won’t forget about Freetime Friday – you have the right to play! (Article 31 UNCRC).

This is the last day of term and we wish that you all have a safe and relaxing 2 weeks of Easter holidays. We will be sending out new learning grids after the holidays. Here are a few fun activities if you would like to try them:

roll a chick

Build_a_Bunny (1)

West Lothian have printed an article for parents/carers about the Easter holiday which we would like to share with you and has some ideas if you would like to continue to do a bit of learning over the holidays (https://www.westlothian.gov.uk/article/51911/Learning-at-home

You can let us know if there are any sightings of the Easter Bunny after the holidays!!

Don’t eat too much chocolate over Easter Primary 2!!

Welcome to Primary 1

Hello All,

Welcome to all our new Parent/Carers and Primary 1 children!

We were very excited to welcome our new Primary 1’s who looked very smart in their school uniforms. With the help of their buddies they have already started learning school routines and are  developing independence carrying out these tasks.

We have started our week with the story of the Rainbow Fish which is a great stimulus for discussions about similarities and differences and friendships. The children have also produced some lovely art work from the story.

This week we have also discussed the class charter with the children which is based on the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child). We have focussed on the children’s rights to be safe, learn and play at this stage. We will be sending the charters that have been agreed with the children home for you to discuss with your child and would be very grateful if you could sign and send this back to show your support.

The children will have their first ‘Freetime Friday’ session on Friday (24th August.) This is reward time which children earn throughout the week. To make this special we are going to allow the children to bring toys from home on a trial basis. We will review this throughout the year if it does/does not work well. You will receive a letter before Friday with details.

The termly newspaper and ‘Meet the Teacher’ next Wednesday (29th Aug)  will give further information about what is happening the rest of this term in addition to our weekly updates on the blog.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask teachers at the end of the day or phone the school office.

Thank you for your support,

Primary 1 Teachers
