Primary 6 Update

Despite it being a short week we still managed to achieve a lot in Primary 6!  We continued work on our Human Body challenge in which we are working in groups to create a life-size body complete with all main organs and bones.

We also worked on our Titanic group challenges which involve us researching the lives of 1st, 2nd and 3rd class passengers.

The class also have a Titanic challenge to complete at home – creating a Titanic fact file.   Everyone should have a challenge sheet with all the information.  Please note it can be done on either A5 or A4 size and should be completed by Thursday 24 March.

For the next few weeks, please bring both outdoor and indoor PE kit on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as our PE slots may change slightly and we hope to get outdoor as much as possible if the weather allows it.

The Dalguise trip is almost here!  Pupils who are going to Dalguise should have received a letter with a packing list.  Please can you return any EE2 forms to the office as soon as possible  if you haven’t already.

Thanks for all your support,

Mrs Muir, Mrs Smith and Mrs Kelly

Primary 6 Update

We’ve had another busy week in Primary 6.  This week we created an art exhibition –  ‘Europe through a child’s eyes’ as part of our Erasmus FLAG project.  We hope you managed to see our artwork if you came along to parents evening.

We are continuing to find out more about the Titanic and have been writing a biographies of some of the Titanic survivors.  Next week we’ll be finding out more about the lifestyles of first, second and third class passengers.

Rehearsals are under way for the P6/7 school show ‘hosanna’ .  Please put March 16th in your diaries for what will be a fabulous show!

Don’t forget there is a Dress Down Day for Valentine’s Day tomorrow Friday 12th.  If you would like to take part, dress in red or pink and pay 50p to help raise money for the school funds.

We hope you have a great long weekend and we’ll see the children back in school on Wednesday.

Mrs Muir, Mrs Smith and Mrs Kelly.

Reminders:

Please remember PE kit on the following days:

Primary 6

It’s been an exciting full first week back.  We’ve been finishing off the film we have created – A Tale Unfolds.  The film has involved the children creating the characters, deciding on the plot, writing the scripts and voiceovers and filming the scenes.   We certainly are a talented bunch in P6!

Next week we start our new topic ‘Titanic’ – watch this space for ongoing updates.

Everyone has been learning a Robert Burns poem to recite in class next week.  We’ve been practising in class but please also support your child to practise their poem at home if you can.

A date for your diaries:  the P6/7 show ‘Hosanna’ will be on 16th March.  We’ll be deciding on parts over the next couple of weeks so please let us know if your child is not likely to be able to make that date (there will be a performance in the evening as well as during the day).

We have a busy time ahead – thanks for all your support and help,

Mrs Muir, Mrs Kelly & Mrs Smith

Happy New Year!  We hope you had a lovely festive break.  This term we have lots of exciting learning to look forward to.  We will be starting our new topic ‘Titanic’ and in science we will be learning about how the human body works.

Every pupil has chosen a Burns poem to recite to the class in 2 weeks time and have been given a copy to take home. As well as practising in class please can you help your child to practise and memorise their poem at home.  Two children from each class will be chosen to recite their poem in front of the school at the Burns Assembly.

We have had a very exciting few days with our Christmas party and the trip to the panto.  Lots of fun has been had by all!

School finishes as normal at 12.30 on Friday.  Children can take in board games for the last day but no electronic consoles.  We’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a lovely time over the Christmas holidays.
